This book is written by a 30-something year old man with his generation in mind. He is honest about the fact that he is not a physician or even a scientist, that he just "experiments" and for that I praise his honesty.
Early in the book talking about his prescribed eating for a slim body he says, a few times, that we should not be prepared to LIKE the food he's proposing but that we should just eat it for our health. All well and good. Then toward the end of the book, comparing people who follow calorie restricted diets he categorizes them as "wasted" and "unhappy" which he attributed to their not eating what they want .. and then he talks about how it's better to live shorter and be happy. Or be a little heavier and happy. Seems contradictory to his earlier statements and pushing body weight, fat % etc.
Ferris does explain, or try to explain, female sexuality and pleasure points, and I guess that chapter alone could sell the book, but I'm not sure it was worth the whole "read."
As stated earlier, there were at least half a dozen times listening to this book when I thought "ah, this author is so young .. " He doesn't deny it. Just take that into consideration when getting the book. I don't think it was worth a full credit!
IT does not cover the ALL book. I hate audible books that does not cover the entire book
4HB ranks very high on my list because it is easy to listen to, is entertaining, and this book challenges you to do a few (but important) good things for yourself! Timothy Ferriss has made himself the guinea pig so YOU don't have to. Admittedly parts of it wasn't really work but pleasure, but why not? Don't we all work hard and deserve to have a great body and some fun with that body? Sure we do! Read it, enjoy it, try a few of the suggestions. What do you have to lose? No matter what your age, there is something here for you. Five stars on everything but the narration, which could have been a bit less intrusive. Fun!
Best book ever
I liked that he summed up and dummed down the overall message, but then followed that up wirh scientific data for the nerds like me.
When i realized i was going about my weight loss all wrong
The book is great, regardless of your purpose of reading it, it does okay in an audio form, but surely is better in hardcopy, even though the narrator does a really good job.
After listening to the book, you really need to go back and revisit some chapters to catch the finer points, or perhaps the book should be accompanied by a summary sheet. But luckily you can find tons of those pages on the web.
As a closing comment I would add that the book seems to short, and the chapters miss coherence, but I guess that comes when it should encompass Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex and Becoming a Superhuman.
Also many of the bonus chapters are lacking in the audibook, which is a pity.
While I believe the principals discussed in this book are entirely valid, and I have definitely lost weight and gained some muscle using the same, the author just comes across as so ARROGANT that it makes me want to reach through the headphones and strangle him. I'm not sure anyone will love this guy quite as much as he loves himself. The narrator, unfortunately becomes the voice of the authors arrogance. I don't follow the diet exactly, but have had great results, a loss of 18 pounds in 8 weeks. This is the redeeming factor of this book. Even completely self-absorbed, arrogant jerks can have great ideas.
This book is infused with Testosterone laden arrogance. And the whole chapter on female orgasms comes across as self congratulatory...
The beginning, pertaining to diet.
Yes, I follow the diet and exercise with a few tweaks, and I have had great results!
If you're a woman who wants to lose weight, the only useful part of this book is the first part.
As all the other reviews, the content barely scratches the surface of "weight loss","adding muscle", and "improving sexuality" with the required rhetoric to make those jumps logical. The travesty is that the description includes much more that is not covered. I am very sorely disappointed that I did not get what I was paying for.
The PDF is very good (albeit still limited) and a must download if you did purchase this audio book.
Only other book that beats it is the 4 Hour Work Week
How to boost your testosterone levels and build mass by going to the gym twice a week
No I have not
yes but was unable to
Tim Ferriss is a machine
the explanation of the exercise isn't clear
not sure you can actually fallow it for long
i tired it and it didnt work for me
Yes it was great but i would also buy the written book for reference and to read the footnotes.
