This just opened a whole new world for me. After this book and her book Ageless, I started seeing Suzanne Somers Doctor, mentioned in the book. I noticed results the first day of going on the bio identicals. Everyone told me I was too young for the change. They were wrong. I wish I would have known about this when I was 30. Too bad my Mom did not know about this. I even learned about male menopause. Very good info.

I wish there were easier answers to aging, but Suzanne has offered priceless advice in this book. I am sure some people already know some of it, but I sure didn;t.
Yes. The information given is proven scientific ways our body works. It's similar to the Jillian Michaels book about hormones that affect the body. Every person should know & understand how their bodies change after 40. The proof is in the results -she's gorgeous!
Slow down! I love her chatty way of speaking but sometimes she speaks so quickly that I was constantly hitting the rewind 30 secs button. The audible app on my iPad & ph have a narrator speed adjuster but when I slowed it down by .5 it was too slow.
Speaking slower in parts. Though I must say that there is no mistaking her passion for what she wants to convey to you. I love that!
For the most part yes. Getting all the hormone info into my head took a bit more time. The 1st half of the book talks about hormones and how they play a huge role in weight balance. The 2nd half of the book talks about her weight loss plan "Somersize."
I didn't understand the entire way of replacing hormones naturally through bioidentical hormones and it seems that one still needs a doctor's intervention to make that happen. I was hoping for a more natural through nature solution -as in the foods we eat or not eat. I understand well now why I have the "7 dwarfs" of my body after forty. I was shocked to learn where synthetic hormones come from -ewh.
I read Suzanne's 1st book "Eat Great Lose Weight" in 1996 and this audio book talks about that program & expands a bit on it. I had no idea she was so cutting edge back then. Looking back she had it right about the fad diets of Low Fat, Low Carbs, High Protein, etc. & how they don't work -this book explains why. As with Jillian Michaels and others she promotes kicking out the processed foods, artificial sweeteners, & caffeine that is hurting our bodies.
Yes, I will listen to it again. There is a lot of information to absorb so I am sure that I missed much during the first listen.
I have not read anything regarding bioidentical hormones before this book. There is a lengthy portion regarding her Somercize Diet recommendations. What Makes Us Fat - this is a similar read. The author of What Makes Us Fat is about Protein and Fat in the diet and the harmful affects of Carbohydrates in the diet. Suzanne Somers does not recommend cutting out Carbohydrates completely - she advocates adding good Carbohydrates back into the diet after excess weight has been lost.
Suzanne Somers does a good job narrating her book. One can definitely hear her passion for this subject. Sometimes she speaks so rapidly that I had to back up a listen to a passage again.
A pdf file would be helpful to accompany this book. There is so much information shared regarding bioidentical hormones and diet, I will have to take notes during my next listen or by a hardcopy book.

The conversational tone and lack of clinical words helped make a serious subject understandable and even entertaining. Her descriptions were clear and the information was complete, not just a tease to buy something else.
This is great information that can help anyone. Suzanne Somers has credibility because - have you seen her? She's obviously doing something right! Her explanations and descriptions make sense and I'm going to give it a try!
