Publisher's summary

Nutrition is essential to living a healthy, happy, and successful life. Yet a world of misconceptions and promises of easy results too often stands in our way - and can even be harmful to our overall health.

The key is to cut through the noise and find the medically backed, statistically proven information about healthy eating and living. These 36 in-depth lectures explore the fundamentals of good nutrition and offer a practical guide for applying these fundamentals to your lifestyle. The power of nutrition lies not just in grasping the concepts behind it, but also in applying those concepts to daily living. This means learning where to find authoritative nutrition information, mastering the science behind nutrients and the body, recognizing what your personal daily requirements of each nutrient should be, building a distinct exercise regimen, and more.

A dietitian and award-winning lecturer, Professor Anding gives you a wealth of invaluable tips you can easily apply to your own eating habits. You'll learn how to calculate your own dietary needs, how to create your own nutrition and exercise plans, how to recognize when a product or service is really a health fraud, and more.

Crafted with the needs of individual people in mind, this course is both a fascinating learning experience and the perfect investment in your personal health - one that will educate you, motivate you, and reward you for the rest of your life.

Needs attached notes

Great course but kind of useless without the notes referred to all the way through.

Great overview of nutrition fundamentals

As a health conscious person I have done a fair amount of personal research about good nutrition but am always frustrated by not knowing whether the sources I am reading are reliable or subject to industry/political/personal bias. This course was an excellent way to synthesize the patchy areas of my knowledge about nutrition and give me a reliable, useful overview of nutrition science. The professor was very knowledgeable and enjoyable to listen to, if not riveting. I would recommend this course to others interested in their overall health.

Speaker had trouble with wording

At the end of the final lecture she starts by saying that almost everyone gets enough vitamins (so don’t buy vitamin water which often has sugar), but ends the point by saying that not everyone has a vitamin deficiency (Not exactly contradictory, but one sounds like 99% ok, the other is 90 are not)...this sort of thing was common where she’d understate an issue or be semi neutral to be absolutely objective to the point where it was difficult to know if this is a small issue or a large one.
Some of her advice was targeted to people who think McDonalds is a healthy meal, but other parts are hyper scientific- very few non-chemists could appreciate what she’s saying....pick an audience sophistication level and stick with it...
Much of the talk was scripted, while other parts seemed awkwardly unscripted - she’d have a hard time finishing what she started gracefully.
All that said, there’s lots of information and am glad I sat through it (tho she holds the public to a very low standard- I once heard elsewhere that, “If it has a nutrition label, it’s not nutritious”...I think that’s clarifying...she, by contrast, discussed various types of processed food...

Here’s an easy diet:
1) don’t anything that comes in cardboard or plastic or has ingredients,
2) mostly vegetables,
3) real food (it must’ve had roots or eyes and it must rot if left out),
4) not too much.
5) No calories from drinks.
6) That and workout hard for 1 hr per day (20 min warm-up, 40 min of hard work that leaves you breathless - no break weightlifting for example).
7) You’re great.
