Publisher's summary

The health you enjoy today, and for the rest of your life, begins with your next breath. In fact, breathing is so crucial to your body's ability to heal and sustain itself that Dr. Andrew Weil says: "If I had to limit my advice on healthier living to just one tip, it would be simply to learn how to breathe correctly."

On Breathing: The Master Key to Self Healing, you will learn a complete course of eight breathing exercises that Dr. Weil uses in his own life, and has prescribed to hundreds of patients over the past two decades. Dr. Weil reports that these breathing exercises get more favorable responses from patients than anything else he teaches.

To learn the art of healthy breathing, Dr. Weil turned to Eastern traditions, including yoga, which view the breath as a vital link to prana, or the energy of the universe. In easy-to-follow language, he explains the secret of breathwork's power over your health, and its remarkable ability to influence - and even reprogram - the nervous system. From increasing energy to lowering blood pressure to improving circulation to beating anxiety disorders without drugs, here is your guide to the benefits of breathwork, presented by the best-selling author and physician who has taken the miracle out of self healing and made it available to us all.

Don't Miss This! Worth It.

Any additional comments?

If you are at all interested in this topic, do not miss this short and sweet audiobook! Do yourself a favor and buy it. It is well worth the cost. I was pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of his techniques, and he is a good narrator. I enjoyed it so much I logged in to write a review soon after listening. There are two chapters: a 50 minute background explanation, followed by 50 minute guided program including a few techniques and breaks with light music for witnessing the breath / meditation.

This is a great book.

The breathing exercises in this book are wonderful. After doing the exercises I felt relaxed and great. I listened to the audio book. He explained each exercise before doing it then he would lead us in the exercise. I would highly recommend this book.

Very simple, yet effective concept . Explained perfectly.

I experienced gratitude listening to this book and was so happy because I found Andrew Weil’s work through Rich Roll’s latest podcast. This will be my go-to book for practicing breathing techniques to calm myself down in challenging situations. As mom, these are much needed exercises for me to be a role model parent and to be a better version of myself. And not torn apart by “reptilian brain” reactions. Thank you very much sir Andrew for bringing this up for us. Love and appreciation. ❤️

Who knew breathing could be so fascinating!

Techniques used by Dr. W are absolutely incredibly helpful! They are easy to follow, he gives excellent step-by-step instructions, as well as counting each stage of the cycle. Doesn’t get bogged down with too much respiratory anatomy, just basically fascinating, eye-opening techniques by which to use every single day!

Relaxation please!!!!!!!

I purchased the book hoping for help with panic and anxiety. All through the first chapter and most of the second were stories of people who had been helped. I kept thinking "I want to be one of these people who gets help" at the end (the last say 25 minutes) he introduced his 478 breathing technique so that is why I still gave 5 stars.
