Publisher's summary

A captivating first-person look at one of the world's most powerful prosperity dynasties that offers a unique perspective on greed, the Church, and the journey toward Truth.

Millions desperate for hope and solutions are enticed by the promise of the prosperity gospel - that God will do whatever they need with just a little faith and a financial gift. All the while, prosperity preachers exploit the poor and the needy to stockpile their riches. What can followers of the true gospel do to combat the deception?

Through a remarkable and fascinating journey, Costi Hinn went from a next-generation prosperity preacher to the first to abandon the family faith and share the true gospel. Nephew of the world-famous televangelist Benny Hinn, Costi had a front-row seat to the inner workings and theology of the prosperity gospel. But as Costi's faith deepened, so did his questions about prosperity teaching. As the deceptions in his past were exposed, Costi came face-to-face with the hypocrisy and devastation caused by his belief system and the overwhelming truth about the real Jesus Christ.

This captivating look into the daily lives of one of the world's leading prosperity dynasties offers a thoughtful perspective on the perils of greed, the power of the true gospel, and hope for the future of the global church. Through real-life stories, Costi challenges and equips listeners to be living lights pointing the way to the true gospel and the saving grace of Christ. God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel will bolster your faith and encourage your own journey toward the truth.

This explains why I don’t like church.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Costi Hinn’s story about his experience with the prosperity gospel opened my eyes to what I have felt for many years. I now understand what I thought I believed about the big name televangelists and many local preachers I have encountered during my Christian journey. I’m encouraged to venture back into church but, I am going in with open eyes and an open heart. Thank you Costi. I now think it’s possible for me to enjoy church and the Christian life again.

Excellent

By far the best book I’ve ever listened to on the fallacies and dangers of the health, wealth, prosperity gospel. A great balance of sharing his personal inside story of him and his family in the midst of the charismatic movement and an examination of its errant teachings through the lens of scripture.

Much needed information on the Prosperity Teaching.

The story was interesting and Josh Child’s narration brought it to life. Best narration I have experienced. Costi’s personal insight gives us the information we need to understand how very wrong and against God’s word the prosperity teaching really is.
Thank you Costi for taking the time and effort to be so thorough in covering this issue.

Good book with some question marks

Good book when it comes to revealing the prosperity Gospel. Less good for not believing that the Prophetic gifts as it written on the Holy Bible still apply today. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore.

Fantastic book! Very eye-opening!

What a great testimony of emancipation from a false gospel! I really appreciated the inside look as to what really goes on in prosperity gospel ministry, and I’m grateful for the story of rescue and redemption of the author Costi. The message to confront this false gospel is loud and clear, May the church (including me) show faithfulness to the true gospel and to confronting this egregious sin.

I was so excited at first but as I listened...

As I listened I began realizing that certain scriptures were referenced while others were not like Luke 6:38 or 2 Corinthians 9:6 that talks explicitly about giving and receiving in abundance was never mentioned.

In actuality, I found out that it is not the prosperity doctrine backed by scriptures that is the problem as opposed to how it is exploited. Both God the Father and Jesus made emphasis on giving to the poor not to pastors or the wealthy. Somehow we missed that through Matt 25:35-40, and lots of other references (
Acts 10:4
Deut 15:7-11
Matt 25:35
Luke 6:38
Prov 29:17, 14:21
Isa 61:1
Job 29:16, 31:16 - 22 secret to Job's wealth
Isaiah 58:7
Heb 13:16
I Cor 11:20-22
I Peter 4:9
I John 3:17).

Even concerning healing..how do you explain my own healing. I took communion for 7 days and prayed. I told God I would not get off the floor until I am healed. I heard the Holy Spirit say you get up because you are healed. When I got up, I was very much still in pain but I believed God and proceeded to thank God for my healing. I went to bed and when I woke up all pain left the area I prayed for. This has happened to me twice 3 days apart. Once in my knee and the other my side.
Also, God healed my daughter's fractured wrist in 48 hours straightening all of her bones. All I did was touch her wrist and told her she is healed. I told her don't let physical manifestation of pain to cause you to think God has not healed you. I told her what happened to me and told her to just thank God that it is done. Mark 4:31, Luke 17:6, Matt 17:20

So when I hear people downplaying a spoken word of healing it pains my heart. I pray the Holy Spirit will show Christian non-believers that God still heals and teach them how to receive it spiritually as seated in heavenly places and pull down the manifestation in the natural realm as I have done.

I am in no ways claiming to be a scholar, just a diligent seeker of the face and ways of God.

For all still struggling read 'A Case For Miracles' by Lee Strobel.

Loved it

I bought this book on a whim to further my studies of the prosperity gospel. It wasn't quite as studious as I had anticipated, but I learned a lot nonetheless. My only complaint is that I finished it in less than 2 days :-)

Great Insights to “a different gospel.”

After a friend shared some information on Benny Hinn and his nephew Costi, I thought I would check Audible to see if it had any books on the subject, which led to this one.
I really enjoyed it and wanted to listen to it to the end without putting it down (which wasn’t possible). However, I did finish it in 2 days.
I felt that it gave an outsider to the “prosperity gospel and its preachers” a brief overview of how it works and who is suffering because of it. From the book, it appeared to me that Costi Hinn will always carry the negative consequence of having the last name of Hinn, but like the Apostle Paul, the scales have been removed from his eyes so he can share the true gospel message with all who will hear.
Thanks to both Costi for his boldness in sharing and Josh Child’s for great narrating.
