Publisher's summary

A treasure map to the stars. An inherited legacy beyond imagination.

When Gunnar McConnell inherits a treasure map after his uncle's death, he goes on the hunt of his life and can't believe what he finds.

There isn't just gold on those mountains, but the secret of a lifetime—a starship that can take him to worlds unknown, and a universe full of life.

When he survives the arduous journey into the belly of a dangerous cave, the Enoch stands before him, waiting for Gunnar to accept his inheritance.

Armed with his new ship—a deified body of destruction—and an AI that only his DNA can activate, Gunnar is forced into a greater conflict of galactic proportions. He soon discovers that politics and deception reach far beyond the boundaries of Earth.

After he willingly accepts a centuries old legacy, a new and dangerous world opens before him—a world he may not be prepared to embrace.

Embark on the adventure of a lifetime with Matt Coleman as he brings you a brand new science fiction series. If you're a fan of spaceships, suspense, and edge of your seat action, this might be the thrill ride you've been waiting for.

Too many inconsistencies.

It's annoying when main characters are supposed to be intelligent but act stupid. Asking stupid questions for stupid Answers. When there's far more important questions to ask is just aggravating. The writer clearly doesn't have any scientific knowledge because There is no air in space for air pockets to surf. Then there's this mixing of metals and minerals to use as a cure all. That's not even scientific, It's on the level of imaginary nonsense. What's next? You gonna introduce magic wands and orks? I could list dozens of issues with this book. It's good for a first time author but they really needs to spend more time polishing before publishing.

like the narrator

no voluntary hero, with so many superior gifts and advantages, would operate in ,such an informational vacuum that this plot has ,willingly without bringing things to a halt

Great start to a fun series

I really enjoyed this one. The characters feel real and alive. The writing is fantastic for a first time author. The narration is pristine, which is no surprise given it is Mark Boyett (always fantastic). If you enjoy these types of found starship stories, then this is a good one. As the story unfolds, you get a lot of really unique worldbuilding, which is rare nowadays, so I really appreciated that. The technology is also really creative. I'm excited for the sequel.

Characters!

Wonderful characters! They are starting to get defined and have plenty of room to grow. Perfect story for our hero and his half snarky humor.
Great job and great start!

Very enjoyable, Top-notch concept and execution.

This one checks most all of the boxes on my list of what makes a sci-fi series fun to listen to. The characters are likable, the pacing does not drag, the version of our galaxy it takes place in and how tech works there are interesting, and the narrator is pleasant to listen to. I am looking forward to seeing how the series progresses.

a fun story

I really enjoyed this one. It's not your traditional space opera, but it does pack a lot of worldbuilding and fun elements to explore. I think many will enjoy. The characters are fun and engaging and the writing is very good. Narrator is great too.
