Publisher's summary
A looming alien horde. A buried alien weapon. One last chance to save humanity.
Liam Hoffen and his crew may have squashed a few alien bugs, but they’re nowhere near ready for the coming swarm. Left for dead on a backwater planet, Liam must crawl through ancient alien ruins in search of an advanced weapon. Piecing it together is the only way to hold the Kroerak forces at bay until reinforcements arrive - if they arrive at all.
Marny Bertrand has never left a crew member behind, and she’s not about to start now. When she discovers Liam is still alive, she'll put everything on the line and mount a reckless rescue mission. If she can’t reach her stranded crew before their defenses fall, enemy droves will get their claws on the only weapon capable of saving humanity.
Fury of the Bold is the second audiobook in a standalone trilogy in the Privateer Tales epic, a series of high-octane space operas. If you like quirky crews, bold space battles, and alien artifacts, then you’ll love Jamie McFarlane’s rollicking 14th entry in the Privateer Tales saga.

Story
They tried to destroy our planets. Our way of life. They tried to send us into extinction. But we, the Coalition, fought them and won. That was a decade ago. They’re known as the Host: a cabal of aliens seeking to dominate our sector of space. And they’re back - with help from a powerful new enemy. We’re outnumbered and unprepared. But there is hope. An ancient race of long-dead but technologically advanced aliens called the Navigators have a ship called the Blackstar that could potentially turn the tide. That is if I, Kai Locke, a humble ship racer, can find it and learn how to harness its power in time.

When the Colony on Hayden's world went black, a team was sent to investigate. It was supposed to be a training mission: skip in, find out the Casimir Transmitter had gone dead, report back and wait for resupply from the Fleet. By the time the only surviving member of the team made landfall, it was spectacularly clear that this wasn't a training mission.

Great Audio version of Fury of the Bold
Fury of the Bold is action packed from start to finish and I loved every minute of it! Mikael Naramores' narration is excellent as always. Many surprises are in store for Liam and crew and all of the new characters. One of the things I love most is how invested I get in each character. Jamie McFarlane's writing is brilliant and I can't wait for the next audiobook to be released. Highly recommend this audiobook and the entire series to fans of space opera and military science fiction.

Great story continues on.
As usual the story references prior books plots to clarify actions and situations as they come up in this book. So to best enjoy the tale reading the first books is best.
Narrator Naramore again is spot on. Superb with dialects and delivery, what more can one ask.
