Publisher's summary

Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling series.

Mercy Thompson's life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter, Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy's life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more....

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can't reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They've all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam's disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Another great story

I love this series. This story was fast paced and very exciting. Plus they brought Stefan back and introduced Azeel to Mercy. I highly recommend and can't wait for the next one

expected better

I expected more from this book. I didn't feel as engaged with this story as I have with the previous books in the series. Everything seemed to resolve very quickly and predictably.

Frost Burned was HOT!!!

I have loved the Mercy Thompson series from the beginning and can't decide which I enjoy more - Mercy and Adam or Charles and Anna better. This installment of Mercy's story is fast, heart warming, exciting and sometimes even funny. I enjoy how Mercy is developing and not always in the land of angst as she was at the beginning. People should never underestimate the cunning of the coyote! I can't wait for the next one.

Too much backtracking...

If you could sum up Frost Burned in three words, what would they be?

Suspense. Repetitive. WTF

Would you be willing to try another book from Patricia Briggs? Why or why not?

YES!!!! I really like the Mercy Thompson series; however, these books are not meant to be a "stand alone" read, so since the reader has been following the series - there is really no need to "backtrack" and re-reference other books and known "facts" so much. I think that nearly 30% of this book was explaining to the reader - yet again (YAWN) - what an alpha is and what a dominant does etc, etc, etc....

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator is EXCELLENT!!! She brings the characters to life with the proper dialects, inflections, humor. Just absolutely PERFECT!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Stop "padding" the book with previously (throughout six other books) stated facts and don't backtrack the action to other books for reference. The "print" paperback is already pretty thin, no reason to make these books into "pamphlets".

Biased

Where does Frost Burned rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Out of the Patricia Briggs Mercy series it's good. It feels more like a stepping stone to the next in the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mercy of course!! I love strong sexy women !!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The way Mercy connects with her mate. Now thats a relationship attribute that gets me every time !!

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy this series. I think because of that I'm very biased.

I love this series!

I was concerned that too much time has passed since I read the last book of this series but I was pleasantly surprised that I immediately fell back into the storyline. There were some references which I had forgotten from the prior books. This series follows along the same timeline of the Alpha & Omega series and there were references in this book about book 3 of that series (which falls in the timeline after Book 6 of this series). I highly recommend reading both!

Love Mercy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I love this series and continue to love listening to the story. This story was good, but not my favorite in the series. There were some very dramatic moments and in my opinion, not enough Adam:)

What did you like best about this story?

I liked learning more about the new bonds between Mercy and Adam

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

Lorelei is always a great narrator. Keeps me involved

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but it was a sad moment and I don't want to spoil it.

Any additional comments?

This is a great fantasy series. It has fun characters with a lot of personality and a lot going on. Give it a try!
