Publisher's summary

For many, friends now play the role of family, but often our friendships don't turn out quite as we envisioned or hoped. Bible teacher Kelly Needham debunks our world's constricted, small view of friendship and casts a richer, more life-giving, biblical vision for friendship.

In Friend-ish, Kelly Needham takes a close look at what scripture says about friendship. She reveals the distorted view most of us have of it and recasts a glorious vision for a Christian understanding.

With hard-fought wisdom, a clear view of scripture, and been-there perspective, Needham shows us how to recognize symptoms of idolatry and dependency; how to understand and address the problems that arise in friendship - from neediness to discord and even sexual temptation; and how to reorient toward the purposeful, loving relationships we all crave that ultimately bring us closer to God.

Exactly What is Needed

This book is remarkable. I think all young people should read this book. It accurately diagnoses today’s problem and provides excellent solutions.

Truth

Such a good and convicting book. After listening to Kelly’s audible version, I bought two hard copies for my teenage daughters to read.

Fantastic book from Christian perspective

Wow. What an absolutely amazing book. I'm a nearly 50 year old woman who was blown away by the much younger author's wise instruction about friendship. The entire book makes you examine your friendships from the perspective of what the Bible teaches about them. Truly a great book. I plan on listening to it again.

Timely and Practical!

So timely and very practical! As one who has long wrestled with being a people pleaser and who has often made mistakes in the area of friendships, I was so blessed and convicted by the content of this book - refreshed by a clear vision both of my sin AND the Christ-centered way forward to freedom and fullness in relationships. Thank you Kelly for your faithfulness in God's leading!

Could not recommend this book enough

This book was so convicting and encouraging to focus on Jesus and have god-centered friendships. I love how she does not skirt around the hard issues and gives great examples.

Not what I was hoping for...

It felt like a bit of an overkill on the "bible is the only truth" and "god is the only true god" and "jesus is the only true friend you need". I was really hoping for a book about understanding people, friends, and core relationships. I was hoping to learn skills about how to decipher real friends from fake friends from the authors experience.
However I was not expecting a push to choose god and jesus as my bestfriend within the first chapter of the book.
