Publisher's summary

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in 12th-century England that centered on the building of a cathedral and the men, women, and children whose lives it changed forever. Critics were overwhelmed, and readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel.

At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Three years in the writing, World Without End once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

As good as you would expect

I read all of the reviews before I purchased this book, and I will agree that there is much repetition in basic plot line, but I enjoyed the sameness of it. Both books had noble characters and selfish villains, both books track the lives of the protagonists to the next generation, both books focus on architecture (although this one not as much), and both books had a a tidy ending. All of which I enjoyed. If you've read the first book and enjoyed it, then I recommend this one as well. If you haven't read the first one, start with this one. John Lee is an excellent reader, and even though I'm a Yankee, I could still understand him without having to concentrate.

Yet another masterpiece from Ken Follett

I just love the storyline, the characters, the hero's the villains, the setting, the description of the medieval times, the fact you can virtually see it all playing out in your imagination. I love Ken Follett, and enjoyed this book immensely - I recommend it to everyone! Not less brilliant by the way is John Lee, the narration is just brilliant!!!

a contemporary masterpiece

John Lee the narrator is brilliant in this narration of Ken Follet novel. I do not have the expertise to even write a review that is worthy of Foletts work. if I did I would rave about how wonderful this was put together like a puzzle from beginning to end but I will leave that to the scholars. if you are serious and want to really listen to something extra fabulous this is it. I challenge you to listen from beginning to end and you will be much rewarded. you will enjoy it I promise!!!

sound quality could be better

many times you can hear weird glitchy sounds while John Lee spoke. it was very distracting.

Another great book by Ken Follet

I enjoyed this one as much as the first. Again, I wish there was another follow up book for the next generation rather than a couple hundred years in the future. I love the depth of the story and characters. Another great success!

The narrator is awesome!

I read this on Kindle and listened at the same on Audible and while it’s an interesting story on its own I think the narration made it better.
