Broad daylight, Los Angeles....
An ordinary morning erupts in cataclysmic violence. A young family is shattered in a heartbeat.
Fate will lead this family to an isolated Montana ranch, but their sanctuary will become their worst nightmare. For there they will face a chillingly ruthless enemy, from which no one - living or dead - is safe.

"[A] gripping parable about the real cost of "getting away from it all." (Publishers Weekly)
"Christopher Lane's pace perfectly captures the acute, restless fear that eventually encompasses all the characters." (AudioFile)
I am a Koontz fan, and I have read over a dozen of his books...this one is just plain dumb. Go read Fear Nothing, Seize the Night, Watchers, or Lightning instead.
Although I enjoyed the listen it was a little predictable. Almost a "Scary Movie" type of book. You knew what was going to happen, you knew the charactor was going to open that door and you knew what was going to be behind it. The reader was excellent and it was a pleasure to listen. I had gotten away from Koontz for a few years now switching to a different author and decided to give him another try. It wasn't disappointing but also not one of his best. The last chapter was really unbelivable and out there. While I would tell you to listen I would also tell you that he has alot better ones to listen to.
Avid reader! Want fast paced, energetic thrillers. King/Koontz are favorites but finding more authors that are starting to rise to the top
Loved it. Couldn't put it down.
As eerie as a campfire tale come to life in the deepest woods, but with the author's signature joviality in times of peril.
this book is boring dont waste your time This was the first Koontz book I have read dont know if I will buy another on
Married, 3 sons, 3 dogs, 6 years til retirement from Toronto EMS . Love animals, reading, gardening, painting, needlework, and living on a lake in Muskoka.
Suspenseful and well written as always.
Dean Koontz writes an amazing story again. Well written and engaging storyline captures your interest and keeps you riveted to your seat. Love his works as always.
One of my favorite books by Mr. Koontz.
Get rid of the stupid accents! So very annoying!!!!!
This is one of my favorite books from Dean Koontz. He's my favorite author and I am so glad I can listen to his books. Although, I'd rather curl up with a real book instead, but this works when I'm at work. :)
The intrigue and the suspense of not knowing what was to come next.
The doorway to who knows where.
Yes it was and I did listen to it in one sitting.
Say something about yourself!
Scary as hell
The suspense builds and builds, takes your breath away at times
Yes. He's got a great voice for the creepy bits
Sure was, and I did.
I have all of Dean Koontz books, now I'm collecting the audios for my Kindle. The audios give you another dimension to the already fabulous story. I live in Australia so not all of his titles are available to me. Please please please make other titles available, especially 'Watchers'.
Was this really written by Koontz? It is not like any of his other work. no suspense. no eeriness. no flow of events. no surprise. listened to the end and was left with a "that is it" feeling. Other Koontz books are quite entertaining. try them. DEFINITELY SKIP THIS ONE.
Dean Koontz always delivers a well written story that is a great listen
Another great book from mr koontz, this poor family are trapped in a house in the middle of no where with a snow storm on the way and some strange spooky stuff going off in the woods, they are not alone gripping stuff
