#1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz “pulls out all the stops” (Publishers Weekly) in this haunting psychological thriller...

For thirty-five years, Bruno Frye has lived in the shadow of the adopted mother who made his heart beat with constant fear. And even though she died five years ago, the whispers still haunt him in the dark...enough to make him kill - and kill again.

Hilary Thomas is one of his intended victims. And she’s about to learn that even death can’t keep a bad man down...

Phew - that’s over!

I’ve read 50 or so Koontz books. Love almost all of them. Glad I didn’t pick this one first - I’m
Not sure I’d have read a second! Conversations were so simple - romance was so unnecessary - could have made something of basic premise - but a big miss buried in rubble.

Fantastic

One of the best story's I've read from Dean Koontz. The narrator also did an excellent job.

Irritating

Why do so many male narrators voice women as whiny, irritating bimbos? It would be better if narrators would just read female dialogue in their normal voices.

Whispers

**Spoiler **

3½⭐ rounded up to 4
I know this book is one of his early ones and I should be more lenient, but it is too long and at the end, what happened to Josiah? Did he live? The narrator mispronounced St Helena and it drove me a little mad 😠. I really like Dean Koontz, but these is definitely not my favorite.

A Little Slow

It as - in my belief - NOT up to the typical, anticipated Koontz standard. It WAS interesting and a BIT captivating / MYSTERIOUS However...

Dean Koontz is a master

I read this the first time as a teenager. I loved it then. But now listening to the audiobook was so much better!! I loved Koontz.

Great book

Great plot. And one of the best narrators EVER. I enjoyed his work as much as the story itself!
