Publisher's summary

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence - creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world.

This is a must read

I love this book and I love the narrator. Bernadette is so relatable. All of the characters are perfectly flawed and likable at the same time.

Nice story, entertaining and sometimes funny

Fun story, entertaining and enjoyable. I found the mis-pronunciation of names annoying as much as the fake accents insulting.

Off to Antarctica soon

So engrossed in the story developing and the journey traveling to Antarctica I found I was obsessed with listening. Having a trip planned in November/December I thought what adventure lies ahead. Librarian friend said this book is for you! Listening for a second time.

Amazing!

I was a bit hesitant to get this book since some of the reviews complained about all the different characters and the narrator using all these different voices, but I loved it! If you enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine: A Novel by Gail Honeyman then you will really enjoy this book too. It's a bit quirky - mostly told thru the reading of emails, letter and texts between the characters, but I found it really fun and enjoyable.
