Joy

This story has a slow start. Hang in there it is worth the time to listen.

Way too long and repetitive

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would shorten this book by at least 1/3. This story goes on and on and on and the same situation repeated several times. Several characters pray the same prayer many many times. I understand the author is trying to get the point across how important prayer is but to listen to this little girl crying for her mommy every other page gets very old.

What was most disappointing about Karen Kingsbury’s story?

Again the repetition of the same scenario over and over got old.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I did not care for the accent the narrator used. She had what I found as an annoying voice.

Could you see When Joy Came to Stay being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I cannot see this as a movie. It would be a very boring movie. Too drawn out.

Any additional comments?

I have read many of Karen Kingsbury books and found them all very good and delightful and I could not put them down and anxiously waited for the next book, especially those in a series. But this one did not do it for me. Maybe reading it instead of listening to it would be a better read.

Too Predictable

I was drawn to this book as it dealt with spirituality and faith. I enjoyed that aspect of the book and appreciated the quoted scripture. But it was the MOST predictable plot I ever had the misfortune of encountering. Almost to the point of being insulting. I wouldn't really recommend this book as there are so many other wonderful titles to choose from.
