Two of paranormal romance's best-selling authors combine their extraordinary talents and set your headphones on fire with an after-dark anthology featuring Alpha males so hot, so wild, and so bad, they may just be the best you've ever had....
Shelly Laurenston,"Miss Congeniality"
It's those damn stockings that get me every time. They have this sexy little line down the back and I can't help but stare at her legs. . .constantly. And you'd think she'd be all over me like every other female in the Seattle area. I'm young, good looking, and one day I'll be Alpha Male of my family's Pack. But Professor Irene Conridge acts like I don't even exist. How is that possible? Now she's got enemies coming out of the woodwork and I have to protect her. Why? Because that's the kind of man I am. Yes, I am that amazing. Of course, it doesn't hurt that while I work to secure her safety, she'll be hanging out at my house. That's hours. . .days even that I've got Irene Conridge right where I want her.
Cynthia Eden, "Wicked Ways"
I'm too dangerous for her. I know it, but I can't get my sexy new neighbor out of my head. When I hear her scream one night, the absolute last thing I expect to see is Miranda Shaw - star of my hottest fantasies - being attacked by a vampire. Now the undead jerk is after her, and I'm the only thing standing between the beautiful lady and a killer who just won't stop. Well, too bad for him, because that vamp has just made the worst mistake of his afterlife - he's tangled with a shifter. And Miranda, well, she's so busy watching out for him that she won't see me closing in on her - not until it's too late - and I'm about to show her just how wild I can get....

Enough said- my headline says it all. I LOVE the books on the Smith and Van Holtz packs and when read by Ms Kane, they are even better than reading them. But this is read by someone that is very one-dimensional in his narration with abysmal accents. He is obviously not an actor as he doesn't emote very well- he is just 'reading' it. I wish I had read it and not wasted a credit.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
5 stars. Miss Congeniality by Shelly Laurenston. This is a novella that can be read at any time in the series but I recommend reading it after Wolf with Benefits. Gotta love the bluntness of honesty in this book, it makes for some awkward situations. Irene was funny in her Bitchy "with a capital B" way. This is a case were vinegar and water do mix and makes a HOT combination. This is defiantly a great addition to the Pride series. I missed Charlotte Kane voice from the other book, she adds humor to the series. 4 hours 37 mins.
3 stars. Wicked Ways by Cynthia Eden. It was an okay story, but nothing that makes me want to read more by this author. It drives me nuts when a women who has no experience thinks she can defeat the bad guys if she puts herself in the way. I don't get it when authors try to make women smart by giving the characters big degrees but have them do some of the stupidest things. 3 hours 52 mins.
Nick Toren was passable, his voice was deep and sexy, it just didn't have much inflection in it
I've read this one I don't know how many times, and I still love it, thought I like Cynthia Eden, the draw for me is always the pack series, and Shelly Laurenston. Her humor is addictive. I was a bit surprised by the male narrator, but he did put an interesting twist to a favorite story. More please, books 4 to 8 are hilarious, and the novellas here and there a often more than interesting, filing in some details of this weird but wonderfull world.
Charlotte Kane narrating.
I have everything written by Shelly Laureston. First in book format and now in audio. Her characters are funny and believable. Cynthia Eden is a good author also.
Get a different narrator.
The narrator read this book as if he were reading a shopping list. He kept a steady boring monotone throughout the book. Had it not been for the fact that the Laurenston story was part of a series I would never have continued with the painful narration.
I've always liked to read. But I've become addicted to Audible and average 5 or 6 books a week. But everybody has at least one vice right?
I have really grown to love this series by Shelly Laurenston. Each story has progressively gotten better and funnier. And I believe this story about how Irene and Niles become mates maybe my favorite. At first I just couldn't see how a woman who seemed to have the warmth and personality of wood could possibly become a love interest to a man who is not only most definitely alpha male but also charming. Irene is a scientist, a genius who is so bluntly honest in everything she says you can't help but enjoy the banter between her and Niles. While she is book smart she is often clueless to the social interaction between men and women. But she is also tough as nails speaks her mind doesn't back down or pull her punches. I guess from this description you might wonder what's interesting about her. But trust me when I say by the end of the story she will be one of your most favorite characters. And she and Niles are the perfect opposites together. This is one I might read again just because.
The second story wasn't bad, however I wasn't as big a fan here. The story itself was interesting but I would have liked to get a little more invested in the characters lives. Things sort of went from zero to 60 without knowing what made it click. Also while I don't mind having a dominate male character in a story....the calling her baby all the time got on my last nerve. I don't object to the term of endearment but this came across as stupidly macho. I would have enjoyed it and the Kane character more if he didn't use that phrase in such a cliche way. Maybe that's just me.
This book was still overall very worth the read.
