Publisher's summary

How did this happen?

Georgie York, once the costar of America's favorite television sitcom, has been publicly abandoned by her famous husband, her film career has tanked, her father is driving her crazy, and her public image as a spunky heroine is taking a serious beating.

What should a down-on-her-luck actress do? Not go to Vegas . . . not run into her detestable former costar, dreamboat-from-hell Bramwell Shepard . . . and not get caught up in an ugly incident that leads to a calamitous elopement. Before she knows it, Georgie has a fake marriage, a fake husband, and maybe (or not) a fake sex life.

It's a paparazzi free-for-all, and Georgie's nonsupporting cast doesn't help. There's Bram's punk-nightmare housekeeper, Georgie's own pushy parent, a suck-up agent, an icy studio head with a private agenda, and her ex-husband's new wife, who can't get enough of doing good deeds and saving the world. As for Georgie's leading man, Bram's giving the performance of his life, but he's never cared about anyone except himself, and it's not exactly clear why.

Two enemies find themselves working without a script in a town where the spotlight shines bright . . . and where the strongest emotions can wear startling disguises.

What I did for Love

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. You have to take it for what it is... light chick-lit. I listen to a book like this when I'm driving and stuck in traffic on the 405 or the 10 or PCH, (in LA). For that it was great, but what was with the porno music? I mean, it was an enjoyable book and just when I was getting into it, key in the porn music??? Come on now, that totally took away from the book and made me hate it. Please, please, keep the porn music off of audible books. There is no room for music in these type of books.

One of the BEST SEP novels ever...

I have listened to almost all of the SEP books and I can honestly say this one is in the top three. This was a great love story painted in a hollywood type setting. Georgie is a very likable character that I connected to instantly. I think I listened to this is 2 days because I just wanted to find out what happened next. Note that Julia Gibson reads this one instead of Anna Fields. There is also some weird music going on, but I think Julia does an excellent job overall and the novel is great.

Not my favorite SEP book

This just wasn't my favorite book. I had a hard time enjoying the characters and didn't laugh over any of it, just seemed like a lot of LA drama. I've always enjoyed the humor and banter of SEP's characters. Wasn't a big fan of the reader either, sure miss Anna Fields/Kate Fleming.

SEP does it again!!! LISTEN TO THIS BOOK :-)

I am a huge SEP fan and looked forward to this book from the time I knew it was forthcoming and it definately does not disappoint. Great character development and a few twists and turns along the way so you hope you know the outcome but there are some surprises. Nice to revisit some old SEP characters too - April Robillard Patriot & Jack Patriot!! I love all SEP books and dare I say...this might be my favorite....

Beachfare Reading, Predictable but Not Awful

This is not highbrow literature, for sure. But at least in the end everyone came out in a better place.

A story based on Hollywood is always going to be extreme: everyone is too beautiful, everyone is hated too much, and by all means everyone must be careful of not looking bad. I should have such time for those kind of worries. However, at least these characters came around to thinking about something else besides themselves in the end.

I have never read anything by this author before. I doubt I will hunt her down again. Nor have I heard anything by this narrator before. She wan't bad but I don't think she had a difficult challenge either.

In any case, if you get this book hang in there as it does hook you and is worth the time and effrot. But if you are looing for a real solid, thrilling story ...look on.

Not SEP's best and with a mediocre narrator

I've enjoyed most of SEP's books, but this one lacked the humor that I was expecting. Maybe it was the narrator. She added a whine to the characters that drove me nuts. If SEP uses the same narrator for her next book, I will definitely pass. This was one of my least favorite books from SEP. The characters didn't seem to be all that likeable. To me, the book dragged on and on until everything ended in a rush. I'll still buy her next book, but without the anticipation I usually have.

Early review, annoying editing

WTH! I'm listening to the story and then, between chapters, this muzac comes on and plays between chapters. Annoying enough. Then, it keeps playing over the beginning of the next chapter, so it's hard to hear the story. Seriously? If it happens again, I will NOT be buying another story by SEP. There's plenty of good stories out there and this hamhanded editing isn't doing anything but getting in the way.

Don’t bother!

Is this really Susan Elizabeth Phillip’s writing? Say it ain’t so!! I’ve loved all her other books, her characters, the wit, and laugh out loud dialogues. I struggled til the 17th Chapter and finally gave up. Not one character was likable, they were all self centered and horrible. The plot is non-existent. I just have to say I hated the entire book! I wish I could give it less than one star.

Disappointed

I enjoyed the earlier books from SEP, but unfortunately this was long winded and not really that interesting. I listened to the end, but more to see if anything exciting happened. It didn't. I hope the next one whenever it comes brings back the old pizzaz and sassy characters.

Lack humor like her other books.

I was so disappointed in this book. I had listened to the Star series and laughed constantly. There was no laughter and I skipped to the end. 😩
