Publisher's summary

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies

A “cheerfully engaging”(Kirkus Reviews) novel for anyone who’s ever asked herself, “How did I get here?”

Alice Love is 29, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym (a gym! She HATES the gym) and is whisked off to the hospital, where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over - she’s getting divorced, she has three kids, and she’s actually 39 years old.

Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes. Ultimately, Alice must discover whether forgetting is a blessing or a curse, and whether it’s possible to start over....

Great story....confusing narrator

A couple other reviews had made the complaint that the narrator does not differentiate between voices. They're absolutely right. There are 3 points of views- Alice's, Elisabeth's and Frannie's. Because the narrator doesn't use a distinct voice for each point of view, it's sometimes hard to know when she goes back to telling the present story- Alice's.

However, despite that, this is a great story. It reminded me a bit of Sophie Kinsella's Remeber Me? But I think that's what drew me to the story, and why I enjoyed it so much.

Can you imagine having a fall at the gym and waking up, only to have lost 10 years of your memory? That's exactly what happens to Alice. Despite not remembering her 3 children, it almost gives her a do over as a mother and wife.

What a lovely book!

Wow, great premise to have a "do over" to 10 years worth of hurt. To reconnect with your loved ones after drifting apart is such a wonderful storyline. Easy to listen to, loved to hear all the different points of view. I would listen to another one of Liane Moriarty's books!

Really different but held my interest.

A very interesting book as it slowly unravels the story. Worth a good read as you are often wondering where the author is going with it.
