Publisher's summary

The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she’s gaining an - um - intimate knowledge of her new neighbor’s nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed "dating hiatus," and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly....

In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight...

Very light listen

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really ... it's super predictable and not "laugh out loud" or "hysterical" like I read from reviewers on Amazon. I almost stopped listening to this silly tale but I was on a very long walk and this book was keeping me company. By the time the walk was over, I had 90 minutes invested in the story and decided to keep on listening while I cleaned house or folded laundry over the course of a week. It was certainly easy to put down unlike other stories that I've listened to where I'll bypass work and find things to clean so I can keep listening.

What was most disappointing about Alice Clayton’s story?

The sex scenes were just too much and really too far-fetched. Towards the end it goes on and on and on ... I was getting bored by it. It's also way too convenient that three female friends fall for three male friends and that the two lead characters are ... neighbors!! And the female lead's mentor/boss just so happens to be dear friends with the male lead and secretly arranged the whole thing. Of course, everyone is gorgeous and the male love interest is rich and successful. The main characters seems to gorge on baked goods, pasta and other foods yet they all have perfectly chiseled bodies. And the main character's cat was just annoying (I am a dog lover) and unbelievable is SO MANY scenes.I definitely enjoy a chick lit now and then but this one just seemed sillier than most.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was a fine performance and she did well with the various voices.

Could you see Wallbanger being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Uh, not really. Maybe on Lifetime w/Jennifer Love Hewitt about 10 years ago. Her love interest can be any good looking, fit guy.

Any additional comments?

I am actually embarrassed that this book is part of my audio library and am going to delete it.

Not Silly, Not Shallow - FUNNY!

I loved this series, specifically Wallbanger, Rusty Nailed and Last Call...when i read Wallbanger, I thought kind of silly, and yet laugh out loud funny - and ultimately sexy. The series is not gratuitous though the title suggests it - I have not read the other two, but these three books together, are amazing..an excellent trilogy. They may not be exciting for some, but they are funny, not absurdly so, I felt like we were taking some pages from the lives of true friends. No, no-one almost dies, no-evil plot is happening to take over one person with a sordid past, and yet you find yourself drawn in and flowing along the River that is the Simon and Caroline relationship. Both of them were living their lives until suddenly, the one they didn't "know" they were waiting for showed up. Simon and Caroline are a beautiful endearing couple. When someone says something wrong or gets moody, it doesn't mean the end of their relationship, they aren't divided by a misunderstanding for months - and when there is a misunderstanding they work it out. Read these three books of this series, in order and Listen to them, while I thought this narrator was a little old sounding for this character, i grew to like her and her enthusiasm and I loved Caroline and Simon, they were sweet, flawed, loyal and beautiful - and Clive (the cat) was just a bonus - a really enjoyable bonus and I love how Simon falls in love with him and assumes he is part of his family and talks to him. So glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews on Rusty Nailed saying it was boring. For me these characters and their stories were anything but..and there was no more sex in Rusty Nailed than any other book and less than many. I have listened to so many series and this one was light, refreshing tender humanity - don't miss these three books of this series...either in the reading or the listening. It kind of evolved into a really fine wine.

BREATHING

Would you try another book from Alice Clayton and/or Heather Smith?

Alice Clayton yes, Heather Smith absolutely no, at least until she can breathe properly for a narrator.

If you’ve listened to books by Alice Clayton before, how does this one compare?

They're all fun

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Heather Smith?

Someone who can read and breathe properly

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Better narrator

Any additional comments?

I wonder what qualifies people to narrate a book. Heather Smith needs a refresher course. I'm not trying to hate on her but as a proffessional narrator she's lacks a great deal.

Slow Burn

I liked this book and the narration was great. I found myself laughing out loud quite a lot. Simon is totally someone I would fall hard for in real life. I liked that they were friends first and the build up is so frustratingly good.

Such a fun book

Any additional comments?

This had to be one of the quirkiest books I have ever read. It was really entertaining. I especially appreciated the last chapter with the POV from the cat.

Tedious to listen to

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story is ok as far as romance novels go. But the plot is pretty obvious and the premise of losing the "O" is sort of stupid.

What was most disappointing about Alice Clayton’s story?

The story is too focused on the sex and not enough about the relationship.

What about Heather Smith’s performance did you like?

The narrator is able to change characters, but the male voices all sound about the same.

LilyElement Book Reviews - Wallbanger

Where does Wallbanger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Caroline Reynolds is an up and coming interior designer. Her boss subleased out her old apartment to Caroline so the beginning of the book is Caroline moving in and getting a feel of her new surroundings. Imagine her surprise when a noisy neighbor starts having a late night wallbanging extravaganza. After several nights of this Caroline is finally fed up and goes to confront the rude guy next door.

Enter Simon Parker, a sexy photographer that likes his harem of ladies and loud wallbanging sessions. The duo have a hate at first sight type of relationship. But when Caroline attends her boss's party and sees Simon, she's forced to play nice. Even more so when her two lady friends have the hots of Simon's two friends.

Since the gang sort of paired off, Simon and Caroline decide a truce is in order. The unlikely duo slowly becomes friends and without realizing you see less and less of Simon's harem. I wasn't sure if he could actually maintain his new lifestyle to say the least.

I figured this book would be nonstop boinking but decided to give it a try anyway since I saw several good reviews for it from blogger friends. I'm so glad I gave it a try! The characters were enjoyable and the author's writing style had little bits of hilarious tossed in that made me giggle while listening in my car. I enjoyed the narrator a lot and hope to have her as the narrator for the next book in the series. I suggest this book if you want a dash of humor in your romance.
