More Katz to Love!

I really enjoy the Sophie Katz series and this one does not disappoint. Interesting storylines and a wonderful narrator. (Gabra Zackman) If you love this series, it's a must read!

Strong Female Lead & a Little Mystery

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love these books, not because of Sophie's sleuthing skills (she doesn't have any) but because of the strong, dynamic characters. Sophie's primary investigation skills are getting into the middle of things and messing them up, she's a pathological liar, constantly fights with her boyfriend and has a tendency to do exactly what she shouldn't because someone pissed her off. In short, she could easily be a real woman. I don't think these books would suffer a bit if there was no murder, but there is and the villain is never straight-forward.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Vows, Vendettas, and a Little Black Dress?

The scene where they catch the killer.

Which scene was your favorite?

Anatoly opening up to Sophie after their fight.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I had to force myself to go to bed.

Listen to the series sequentially because they're all great books.

Really good and nice surprise!

This is the first book of this series that I have read and it was so well done that I didn't realize it was the 5th book in the series. The past was mentioned, but you didn't need to have read the other books to understand everything and follow along or to totally fall in love with the series. The characters are quirky, entertaining, and well developed. The story kept you guessing and switching between potentially guilty parties. The narrator was nice to listen to and read at a good pace. When I finished this one, it made me want to reach for the next! Overall, it was a really pleasant and fast listen!

If you could sum up Vows, Vendettas, and a Little Black Dress in three words, what would they be?

Great light mystery read. Romance is not over the top and it was a great listen driving to and from work. My work reading is so heavy that I need light-weight pleasure reading that is still intelligent and mature and this hit the spot.

"Why Would I Exfoliate Now?

Would you consider the audio edition of Vows, Vendettas, and a Little Black Dress to be better than the print version?

All the characters are full life in the audio version! Dena is my fave character, and this is her story. However, the subject was a bit darker than I would have liked. It had great humor sprinkled throughout, so you must listen as they bark out loud scenes. MaryAnn steals all the humor in this one! Of course Marcus is as always a true blue friend.

What did you like best about this story?

Great listen at 1.25x speed. Beware: if you listen out of order, you will get some info on the preivious book. If you listen to #6 before this story, then you will get the mystery killer reveled in the first 5 min! Why would the author do that?? Authors generally never do that just in case a reader listens or reads out of order. Publisher should have caught it and edited out.

What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?

All her male voices are great. She interprets author's humor so well. "She is Sophie"

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I started listening to #2,3,4,5 after a long moratorium from listening to #1. All the books have Great chick lit. humor and a mystery! On to last book, Anatoly's story.

A Must Read!

This is a must read who-dunnit. Within minutes, Dena is shot in Maryanne's apartment and the rest of the novel is a classily woven who-done-it. There are many twist, turns and interesting backstories. Anatoly get fleshed out and we learn that he has secrets -- so there is a lot of meat in the backstories.

Garra Zackman continue to do a great job narrating and I've become accustomed to her reasonable pace and excellent control of the character interactions.

You want to read this novel and you are going to want to get to the next one as soon as possible. Keep the series going, its still has legs.
