Publisher's summary

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November

Imagine a Britain stripped of democracy, a world of the not-too-distant future in which freedom has been surrendered willingly to a totalitarian regime which rose to power by exploiting the people's worst fears and most damning weaknesses.

This is the setting for the parable of Evey, a young woman saved from death by a masked man calling himself V. Beguiling and dangerous, V ignites the fuse of revolution when he urges his fellow citizens to shed the blanket of tyranny and oppression that they have permitted themselves to be cloaked in. While those in power take steps to neutralize the threat, police pursue the mystery of V, unaware of the terrible truth that awaits them. But it is Evey who, with V as her enigmatic guide, sets out on the painful path of deception and self-discovery, deconstruction and re-creation, vindication and vengeance.

Novelization by Steve Moore, based on the graphic novel illustrated by David Lloyd and published by Vertigo/DC Comics. Based on the screenplay written by the Wachowski Sisters.

Great

The book adds needed depth to the movie. It is good warning to not let people manipulate your fears.

Very V

A good book adaptation of the V story. Many parts of this story could've used more development, but the book itself didn't elaborate much beyond the original comic book which is unfortunate. However this is still a great story, I was hoping for more of it.

The Narration by Simon Vance is once again top notch and I found it to greatly enhance the book experience. While watching the movie after listening to the book I could still hear Mr. Vance's voice over the movie as the dialog is practically word-for-word.

I would suggest reading 1984 and then at some point after reading this book. They go well together.

Very Very Good

I vouch that Vance’s voiced performance was veritably valorous and can verify that the story was valid and varies very little from the venerated video version.

The Movie in Book Form, But Still Enjoyable

This audio reading is based on the screenplay for the movie V for Vendetta, which itself is based on the graphic novel. Usually I don't like reading/listening to screenplays or novelizations of them, but with Simon Vance's narration, I was hooked throughout the story. Great voice acting & vivid imagery throughout the reading.

"V" Freedom Forever

I first saw the movie and loved it. I got the book and it seemed to follow the same story line so I enjoyed the book as well. A very good read

Greatness!

What more can I say about this book! I LOVED it from start to finish. The narrator invited my imagination into this gritty universe and held it there until the very end :)

Good book

If you haven't seen the movie or read the book, then just imagine a story that's equal parts Orwell's 1984 and Batman (the movie, not the television series). It is deep enough to be thought-provoking, while corney enough to be entertaining.

Maybe a little too close to home

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Without question. I am someone who believes that authority deserves no deference and should be challenged at every turn. This book definitely makes you think about authority gone wrong, and shows you how easy it is to find yourself in such a situation.

On a less political note, the author does a masterful job of teasing you with a thought, and making you work and wait for the answer!

What was one of the most memorable moments of V for Vendetta?

I have to say, finding out why he is called "V" was the best part.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Love Simon Vance. He is up there with George Guidall.

Who was the most memorable character of V for Vendetta and why?

Although it isn't right to call him the antagonist, the Police Detective is my favorite character. I love how the relationship between he and V develops and matures.

A perfectly read novel.

Mr. Vance's performance in this audiobook is the best I have ever heard. In the future I will look for books narrated by him before all others. Bravo, sir. Just perfect.
