Publisher's summary

With Uther, Jack Whyte, author of the richly praised Camulod Chronicles, has given us a portrait of Uther Pendragon, Merlyn's shadow - his boyhood companion and closest friend. And the man who would sire the King of the Britons.

From the trials of boyhood to the new cloak of adult responsibility, we see Uther with fresh eyes. He will travel the length of the land, have adventures, and, through fate or tragedy, fall in love with the one woman he must not have. Uther is a compelling love story and, like the other books in the Camulod Chronicles, a version of the legend that is more realistic than anything that has been available to listeners before.

I was hesitant, but proved wrong!

I have been listening to the Camulod Chronicles in order and was bummed out when this book was next. I wanted to carry on with Arthur and Merlins story, not go back to King Uther the Bully. I could not have been more wrong! I loved this book, I loved that it answered questions I didn't think it would, I loved hearing Uthers' tale from start to finish. I loved it!

The best there is for Arithiran Historical Fiction

Extremely well researched, Jack Whyte paints a thorough picture of the Britain after the Romas left.
Love the entire series and the narrator does it justice. 5 stars all around!

I have been enthralled in these books

I love the narrator. His voice is soothing. I'm glad they gave me the perspective from Uther's point of view.

This book fills in the missing bits of the saga. it brings a different perspective. I felt it necessary to read out of order.

Terrible

Poorly written. The idea for this book was good but the writing was terrible. I listened to more than half hoping it would get better but was disappointed with each chapter. The author's use of vocabulary to give depth to his characters was like putting gaudy jewelry on a Maniquin.

difficult to get though

I love the all the books I've read so far but his writing style became unbearably slow and drawn-out.
