Publisher's summary

After discovering just how filled with magic, intrigue, and adventure the parahuman world of being an undead American can be, Fredrick Frankford Fletcher did exactly what was expected - he became a certified parahuman accountant. Myths and legends, as it turns out, are not so great at taking appropriate deductions and keeping their receipts, and Fred is more than happy to return to a life others view as woefully dull, expanding his accounting business to cater to various monsters and their respective financial needs. Said monsters are, unfortunately, still spectacular at pulling Fred into trouble, though. And despite merely wanting to stick with simple paperwork, Fred once again finds that he is going to have to deal with enchanted weaponry, government agents, possessed houses, and one enigmatic dragon's interest. In the parahuman world, any business can turn deadly, even one as mundane as accounting.

Another entry in a nice, stress free series.

This is a great series if you want something lighthearted, sweet and fairly stress free to pass the time. I also like how it is put together as a series of short adventures.

Good fun and worth a listen

These books aren't as frothy as they come across. There is some interesting character development and the world of the arcane is slowly but effectively revealed and developed. Not a highly intellectual read but fun, light-hearted and nerdy. All good!

Slow and steady delivers again

I don’t expect epic storylines from this series, but rather a consistent and interesting handful of stories with each new book that tells us more and more about the story world and our main characters. Book 2 continues to deliver.

Werewolves and Vampires and Dragons, oh my!

Werewolves and Vampires and Dragons, oh my!

Fred and his motley crew of friends are at it again. He expands his accounting business, gets kidnapped, recuses the daughter of his client who also happens to be the big bad alpha of his area. He also gets a taste of dragon blood which is a huge boost to his already superhuman abilities. Fred meets the sister of his girlfriend, Crystal, ex-finance, which, awkward! Albert, Fred's sweet, but slow zombie assistant is chosen by a sword of destiny--actual weapons of destiny exist! There is an encounter with an enchanted, basically sentient house. And more kidnapping and lots more dragon blood. So much dragon blood that it leaves Fred with a strange immunity to silver.

The recaps were much less in this book which made listening so much better. This was as funny and adventurous as the first book in the series and I'm looking forward to seeing how they tackle the issue of Fred's silver immunity in the next book.

well worth the listen

Classic Drew Hayes!

If you like his superpowerds, or fantasy work, you will certainly enjoy these series of "humdrum " reflections of an everyday, dedicated, workaday small business owner and....all the crazy $+@# that can happen to a guy who knows the TWO tax codes.

Such a fun read

My love seems to only grow for books by Drew Hayes. He has this uncanny ability for you to love the characters (even the ones that have done a terrible thing). There is such an excellent level of character development that whenever you re-read the stories, you just love them so much more.
They also strike an excellent balance between dark and light that's hard to do, which just makes them so unbelievably easy to read. As soon as I started this, I had to keep reading to the end because I felt the absolute need to stay with the characters until the end. It's so lovely when I find a book that does this, let alone a series. I hope the next book is equally as good!

Great listen!!!

I really enjoyed the second book in the series. Very well written and the characters are very well-defined.
I can't wait for the next installment.

My New Favourite Mind Candy

Just because one dies does not mean that one changes. Fred, the CPA (certified parahuman accountant) and self-professed boring vampire, returns in book two ready to fight for his friends in Winslow Colorado against some super-nasty bad dudes. Great new characters abound, including Charlott Manor, the house with real personality, and a new sombre agent that reluctantly teams up with Fred and his agent girlfriend. Favourites from the first book return, including the zombie who is now Fred's intern. Be ready for laughs, but also to care about these wonderful characters.
