Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Mary Janice Davidson has made listeners jump from their seats with her thrilling tales and roll on the floor with her biting humor. Her Undead books, starring sassy, fashion-conscious vampire queen Betsy Taylor, are a unique treat worth sinking your fangs into.

In between running her vampire nightclub and hunting down the perfect pair of shoes, Betsy learns her long-lost half-sister Laura is actually the spawn of Satan. Complicating matters, prophesy states that the devil's offspring and the queen of the vampires are destined to rule the world together. Breaking the news of world domination to her newly discovered sibling might be a bit more difficult than Betsy imagined.

A Fun Series

Betsy is starting to get a handle on the whole "queen of the vampires" thing she's been saddled with (it does, after all, tend to come with some great shoes), and then her evil stepmother announces she's pregnant.

Thing is, this leads the sinfully sexy vampire king to tell her that her sister is destined to be favoured by Satan, and Betsy can't make the baby shower because it's during the day.

Filled with the usual fantastic inner monologue of Betsy, this series continues at its frenetic pace, and leaves you laughing all the while. I really applaud Davidson's ability to keep the series light and funny while introducing a few more wonderful secondary characters, and spinning a much wider plot net. I'm curious to see where it all goes. As always, there's the sexy vampire king to be Betsy's annoying (and arousing) counterpoint, and her best friends and mother always chime in with some great lines as well.

Entertaining

Very fun, a little bit rauchier language than I remember in previous stories, but still entertaining.

Funny Turned Annoying (series)

Any additional comments?

I've read many vampire books and I'm always looking for a good series. When I read the first book in this series I thought it was hysterical. I laughed out loud many times at Betsy's rants and witty comebacks. The second book in the series was easily my favorite and I fell in love with other characters like Mark.

But by the third book I found myself fast forwarding past the rants I use to find funny. The main character Betsy just starts to become extremely annoying. The constant "poor me" rants and whining started to drive me crazy. I only made it to book 7 before I couldn't take what the main character had turned into anymore.

I don't regret the first couple credits I burned on this series and if you're still digging it by book 3 you may just end up liking the whole series. Enjoy it for the mindless entertainment.

Bring on the next one.

my son and I are reading these books me on audible and he in paperback we really loke them and I always need to know what happens next. The voices could be a little bit better but all in all the trader is better then most she is no Amanda ronconi but she is good. Bring on the next one.

A bridge for the series

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story was ok. I didn't feel cheated until thelast few chapters. This book in the series felt more like an introduction to a few more characters

Would you be willing to try another book from MaryJanice Davidson? Why or why not?

I've enjoyed the writing. The narrator reads a little too slow for me. I listen at a higher speed to accommodate the slower pace of the narraitors characterization. Every few minutes she would speed up and I would have to slow it down or go back 60 seconds.

Did Nancy Wu do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Each character has a good voice. I can tell the difference between them with no problem. Again, the slower pace made me feel like some of the characters were too slow.

Do you think Undead and Unappreciated needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I believe it does have a follow up and I'll listen because I need to know where it ends. This book abruptly stopped with no real significant conflict.

Any additional comments?

Nancy, please pick up the pace

More undead fun

What’s not to love about Queen Betsy, who may just be the worst vampire queen ever, but hey, she’s awesome.

Still a Super Fun Series!

This book was just as nutty as the previous two in the series. It has a great cast of characters, from a mouthy BFF to a crazy step-mom. Betsy, the vampire queen, continues to be tragically yet hilariously shallow & dimwitted. The Betsy and Sinclair dynamic is still fun & steamy. Plus Betsy finally gets her head on straight about how great a catch Sinclair is. In this book, Betsy finds out that not only does she have a sister, but said sister is the spawn of Satan. Only MaryJanice Davidson could manage to make that into a funny scenario. I laughed the whole time at Betsy's wild antics, but also found myself wanting to know what happened next. Bear in mind that this book, and the other ones in this series, are purely for fun. Also, Nancy Wu's narration is somewhat lacking. Someone like Amanda Ronconi would have been perfect. But you grow accustomed to Wu's narration style.

Love It, then it was over

This was a really great listen. The narrator does a wonderful job, the charaters are great, and it was building an interesting storyline, then it was done. Boom, just like that mid-story it was over. Nothing was brought to closure, just over. It left me confused.

a lot going on

alone, any of the plots making up this story would be boring but all together they make for a very interesting story. Not much seems to really happen but a bunch of small hurdles are taken care of so that the next volume won't need to hand wave the details. Overall a fun shorter story
