Excellent and inexpensive

suspense, thriller, crime, 19th-century, murder-investigation, novella

Excellent! Forgery, a secret society, murder, and a well documented cerebral investigation. And all in a length and style similar to Conan Doyle, what more could you ask for? Very well crafted and written for the enjoyment of those of us who always hope to find someone new yet similar.
Wayne Farrell is marvelous as Carl.

Holmesian

I really enjoyed this short listen! I wish it had been longer. It reminded me of a Sherlock Holmes story. The style of writing, the subtle clues put together, the hidden relationships brought to light throughout the story, all reminded me of Holmes.

An ancient scroll is discovered and brought to the Agora Society to determine its authenticity. The members soon designate it a forgery. Then more scrolls start to appear. The Agora Society is so disturbed by these forgeries, they take out an ad to warn people about them. Shortly after, one of their members is found murdered, the clues start adding up. The only problem is, they need to find the murderer before two tocks before midnight.

The narration by Wayne Farrell was fantastic. His accent and delivery was absolutely perfect for the material and probably a large part of why I found it such a fun listen. I will look for other books narrated by Farrell.

I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom! in exchange for an honest review.

Quick listen

Note: I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

I don't normally go for short stories - I prefer full length novels. But this one was decently done. And sometimes I think authors could take a hint from short story writers; their ability to tell a significant amount of story in just a few words is a good talent to have, imo. Especially for writers who tend to be a bit too ... er ... wordy *cough* George R.R. Martin *cough*.

A great mystery.

Wayne Farrell's narration is wonderful, it makes a good story even better. The tones, characterisations, the whole thing is wildly entertaining.

Extremely Good!!

Very well paced and taut thriller. The characters are very well thought out and developed, into a well researched story. One keeps turning the pages effortlessly, as the writing style flows very smoothly. Would recommend more from this author.“
