Publisher's summary

Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

The Roaring Twenties!!

I absolutely loved this story. Totally different, and I loved the paranormal aspect of the book. I can understand the remorse she felt for not visiting her aunt in her seniors home, however I think that was the fault of her parents, because they didn’t encourage familial closeness. It is what we have done in today’s society, get so caught up in our lil lives we forget about the elderly. It was wonderful that Lara got to know her aunt Sadie and had a glimpse of how she lived her life. This was a joy to listen to and the narrator did an excellent job.

Great Audio book for Chick Lit lovers

I enjoyed this book all the way through. I never thought about the narration throughout listening, so that must be a good thing. Love Sophie Kinsella's writing.

Great Aunt Sadie

Not sure this is my favorite Kinsella, but it was very enjoyable. I love her intricate plots. This one requires a complete suspension of disbelief, even without the presence of the ghost. But it's always fun to see how masterfully this author wraps up all the plot lines. After getting her characters into impossible situations, she magically gets them out. I enjoyed these characters and the period details. A yummy hero too. Landor does a good job with a rather difficult challenge, since Aunt Sadie was probably not easy to portray.

A Ghost Story with Humor and Heart

Sophie Kinsella has given us another of her wonderful stories with a great witty plot, characters that you feel you’ve known forever, and laugh-out-loud humor. The heroine is haunted by a beautiful ghostly flapper, and through the course of the story they unravel love affairs past & future, solve a great mystery, and discover a deep, unlikely affection for each other.

Credit also to narrator Rosalyn Landor, a talented actor who effortlessly switches voices from flapper to modern woman, from male to female, and even throws in a credible male American voice. Ms Landor is a marvelous choice to bring Sophie Kinsella’s words to life.

Not her best, but still okay

I had a hard time liking Sadie and Lara in the first half, but they eventually got better. Not the best Kinsella book in my opinion, but still made me laugh in the end. A nice happy ending.

Not my favorite!

This took a very long time to pull together. Even then it wasn't Sophie Kinsella's best work. I found both the female lead characters unsympathetic and frequently annoying. and although this IS fiction, much of it was either preposterous or predictable. Of course, Rosalind Landor did her customary great job with the narration. I've enjoyed other Kinsella novels, but this one missed the mark for me.

You can’t help but to fall in love with Sadie

At first I wasn’t sure about this book. As Sadie’s character becomes more prominent in the book you can’t help but to fall in love with her. I enjoyed the book and didn’t want it to end.

I think Rosalyn Landor does a brilliant job of narrating. And I have always appreciated the life she breathes into Sadie.
