Publisher's summary

Keith Stewart, a retiring and ingenious engineer, could not have been happier in his little house in the shabby London suburb of Ealing. There he invented the mini-motor, the six-volt generator, and the tiny Congreve clock. Then a chain of events sweeps him into deep waters and leads him to his happiest discovery yet.

Very warm story, beautifully told.

This older story has a small number of words that are no longer acceptable and would not have been included had the author been writing today. It’s a great story, with a great narration. Not easy to find this in print. Worthy of a credit! I’m heading off to find another Nevil Shute book now.

From a much Loved author

My now deceased partner was an antiquarian book dealer. Shute was one of his favorite authors.I have read all of Nevil Shute’s books about 20 years ago. Because I have a decorative wooden box that once was Nevil Shute’s I recently looked up a website for his devotees. Realizing then I regretted giving all his books away. I was disappointed when our library system had none of his books. I was so excited to find Audible had them in their library. Trustee from the Toolroom was one of my favorites. I truly enjoyed the reading of this favorite book by a much loved author. Very well done!

Beautiful story about a simple hero

I love this book and reread it, and now relisten, every year or two. It is a fantastic story about a simple little man, who made a heroic journey to benefit his niece. Along the way he meets and touches the lives of others. The final sentence makes me we weep every time. It’s a beautiful story.

The reader is excellent. He is just right in describing the technological parts of the story. He does a good job with the accents. Highly recommend.

A Real Nice Story

What made the experience of listening to Trustee from the Toolroom the most enjoyable?

The story was quite interesting and seemed plausible. I could picture the locations and events as Keith met new people that helped him along the way to his objective.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Trustee from the Toolroom?

The description of the storm and Jo and John's reaction to events leading up to the shipwreck was very realistic and frightening.

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator was very clear and his accent gave credibility to the story and made the characters come alive.

If you could take any character from Trustee from the Toolroom out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I think Keith would be a great dinner guest relating his adventure and talking about the interesting people he met.

Gripping and heart warming

A terrific story about an ordinary man rising above himself and inspiring others to do likewise. Beautifully read, too.

A long journey

Keith was a perfect choice for a trustee of his sister's estate which left a young girl needing a new mom and dad.

What I liked most about this story is the way Keith keeps trying. The hurdles are there. The fear is there and recognized as just fear. He keeps working on the path of settling the financial security for his niece. At each turn of the great unknown he finds his past friendships make his future path more smooth.

A good story from start to finish. A few gasps, a few chuckles and a lot of twists in the various characters.

Best Narrator!!

I loved this book from the beginning!
The narrator brings the characters to life so brilliantly, the intonation of the UK accents helps create a visual in harmony with the written description.
The story is fantastic , however a wee bit predictable and as Nevil Shute loves to do, very succinct . The protagonist is an ordinary man who does extraordinary things from ironclad moral standards .you can’t help but love the guy!
Very entertaining , you cannot wait to keep listening .
I gave the story 4/5 because one likes to relate to characters and I suppose it annoys me when everything works out so perfectly without that friction of real life .
I do recommend very much indeed , as his character would have said .
