Publisher's summary

Kelly Jacobs has already paid the ultimate price of loving a warrior. She has the folded flag and the grateful thanks of a nation to prove it. Navy SEAL Joe "Bear" Baker can't ask her to accept that risk again, even though he loves her. But the man responsible for her husband's death is back, closer than either of them realize. Kelly's in danger, and Joe may not get there in time.

This romantic suspense with its theme of God as refuge provides a firsthand look at life in the military, where serving God and country create truly uncommon heroes.

Don't miss the other books in the Uncommon Heroes series.

enjoyable but unrealistic

While I can say the book was good to get past some boring time and kept me occupied there was one thing always in the back of my mind while listening, and please bear in mind I comment from a military background. There is abolutley no way a civilian a foreign civilian even with his high power job is going to know the identities and opperations of Navy Seals. Understand one thing these guys are the best of the best. They themselves have so much security to those outside their command that it would be impossible for a civilian to just simply know who the team is and what they do in their opps. It would have been one thing if the author wrote how this guy paid some serious cash to hack info or bribe some high level people to learn the info he had of the Seals, but the author just simply made it broad information as though it was daily gossip of Seal Opps and members. Uh huh ya right...

Last comment about this book, its supposed to be a romance genre not a religious genre. Throughout the entire book there were 2 kisses thats it, there was over 3 hours dedicated to religion. note to author: less religion and more romance when your writing romance genre, you didn't even have a single love seen.

Pleasant Clean Story

I enjoy a pleasant clean storyline. It's quite difficult these days to find a book without explicit sex scenes, unnecessary violence and profanity. This book provided such an experience.

What a wonderful book!

I listened to this within one day, it was so good! The reader was fantastic! I'm not very eloquent, so I'm not going to try to be, but it was a great read, and I would definitely recommend it!

Lots of mush in the middle

STORY - True Devotion is an inspirational romance entwined with Navy SEAL operations and a mystery. I don't consider myself a particular fan of inspirational books, but this is my second Dee Henderson story. (The first was The Negotiator, and I loved it.) This book was very good, but I did become tired of hearing Joe and Kelly say how much they loved each other and discussing whether or not they should be having a relationship. Sometimes I just wanted them to hit the sack and get it over with.

Other than being too chick-litty in places, the book was very good. The religous aspect was not overdone, the mystery was interesting, and I loved listening to the SEALs plan their operations and then execute them.

NARRATOR - The narrator does a good job. He doesn't distinguish female voices well, but it didn't detract from the story.

OVERALL - Good book, especially if you like romantic heroes!

Great story!

I love Dee Henderson books! I really enjoy the narrator. I'm sure there are better narrators but this one is really good and after listening to the entire O'Malley Series I was glad to hear him narrate this one:) I love how faith and scripture are weaved throughout the story and the real life feel of loss of faith and return to Jesus through life events are the basis of the story.
I wish there was more to the story! More about their marriage and raising Ryan after his fathers death.

Romance Thriller

If you haven't taken the time to read one of Dee Henderson's books yet then pick this one up. It is an intense drama of new beginnings, the growth of relationships, military life and terrorism. I love all of Dee's works but one of my favorite male characters is Joe "Bear" Baker.
If you aren't a bear fanatic before you will be after reading or listening to this book.

A wonderful story!

This is a great combination of drama, action and light romance, all from a God honoring perspective.

I fell in love with this book!

being retired Navy, I was stationed on the same military base that Dee Anderson wrote about in this book. the narrator depicted the Navy Seals and their character and mannerisms perfectly! I can't wait to listen to her second book in The Uncommon Heroes series!
