A pulp novel of urban crime, L.A. Wilson’s Time Before Midnight focuses on T. J. Durant, a tough, limo-driving single mother with a penchant for finding trouble. Melissa Exelberth and Aaron Tucker perform the text, which makes broad use of urban pronunciation and slang, at a brisk clip. The listener is taken deep into T. J.’s world as her connection to a murder case closes in on her. At the center of T. J.’s problems is private eye Jackson Bonner, who may prove to be T. J.’s greatest weakness.
T. J. Durant, a limousine driver and single mother, has struggled and salvaged herself from the desperation of street-life. She has a weakness for flawed men and finds herself in the middle of a murder because of her connection to disabled private eye Jackson Bonner. As the danger deepens, she is unwilling to completely abandon Jackson.
