Publisher's summary

Imagine answering your cell phone one day to a male voice that gives you three minutes to confess your sin. If you don't, the madman, Slater, will blow your car to smithereens. You barely manage to exit heavy traffic and ditch the car when, precisely three minutes later, your car blows sky high. The media and police descend on the scene; your world has just changed forever.

So begins the nightmare that grows with progressively higher stakes. There's another phone call, another riddle. The cycle will not stop until the world discovers the secret of your sin, but you don't have a clue what that sin is. If not for Jennifer, the brilliant FBI agent working to corner Slater, you would indeed go mad.

Absolutely astounding!

A masterpiece! Narrative, pacing and the story itself, it's all an amazing conjunction. And the morale behind its argument is gracefully depicted, whether you agree with the author or not.

I’ve loved Ted Dekker books before ...

But it was beyond whacky, we didn’t enjoy this book as it messed with demonic and schizophrenic things that was just too weird - it was confusing

Not the best

What would have made Thr3e better?

The story is rather poor and the characters are bland. Things happen in the story and you are just to accept it without asking how or why. Characters solve vague puzzles rapidly in a manner that feels forced for the sake of the plot. Nothing is really at stake and the conclusion is laughable at how far-fetched it is.

Has Thr3e turned you off from other books in this genre?

For a while.

How could the performance have been better?

It sounds like the narrator is reading this book for the first time. He makes no effort to differentiate the characters he is narrating, and in some instances it is unclear which character is speaking because the book doesn't always say. The narrator will even run sentences onto each other without pausing, adding even more confusion.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Thr3e?

I wouldn't have cut anything but there were lots of scenes that needed complete rewrites.

Any additional comments?

Thr3e attempts to be thought-provoking, but does so with shallow concepts and half-baked ideas. None of the characters are relatable, and I found myself hoping all of them would be dead by the end. The worst kind of mysteries are ones that withhold crucial information so you can't even guess whats going on until the author decides you can know.

Good book

This is a good book.

This Audible version goes great with the Kindle version. They sync together so you can go from reading to listening and back.

Great Christian Psychological Thriller!

This story kept getting better! One of the best Christian novels I have ever read! The best part was that it still had a focus that brought you back to God's Word....so good!

Stick in there!!

I will say with all transparency that the narrator through me off at first—definitely not your typical audio book narrator, especially at first.

But he gets better as it goes along. I’m not sure if the produce got better or what.

All that aside, if you picture a seasoned actor on a stage reading the book to you, that’s what you’ve got here. Like I said, took me a couple hours to adjust. Once I did though, I actually thought he was really, really good.

This book is great for anyone considering what evil is and if evil can reside in just anyone—I won’t say any more.

It is a little dark at times, but any mature teen/young adult can handle it.

I was riveted to my earbuds for the last two hours. Definitely a thriller.

since the great story with a fairly good twist.

I wished that the twist hadn't been foreshadowed quite so obviously. It still took me quite a while to figure it out, and it didn't ruin anything that I figured it out before the end. It was a delightful character study, a great philosophical concept and a wonderful action/thriler/mystery. I recommend it to anybody.

Outstanding!

Riveting story, superb performance! What a great illustration of the Christian's struggle of the spirit and the flesh. This is Ted Dekker at his best!
