Celebrity photographer Grace Buchanan has always known that one day she'd swap her manic day job for the peace and quiet of her beloved childhood cottage, St Christopher's - she just didn't expect it to be so soon.
At the reading of her mother's will, she's shocked to learn that inheriting St Christopher's hangs on one condition: Grace must drop everything for two weeks and travel the country with a mysterious stranger - war-weary Royal Marine Alasdair Finn.

"I laughed and I cried while reading this book. Thoroughly enjoyable." (The Sun)
Story moves along at a good pace, there's depth in the main characters but parts are just too obvious and a bit cliche. Worth a listen if you're looking for a love story that doesn't require deep concentration.
I loved this book more than anything I have listened to for ages.
It has everything.
Thoroughly recommend it.
I THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA TO GET A WAYWARD DAUGHTER ON AN UNUSUAL HOLIDAY BUT BY HITCHING HER UP WITH A GOOD FRIEND ON-ROUTE.
WHEN GRACE WAS TOLD THAT SHE COULDN'T INHERITE THE HOUSE UNTIL SHE HAD TAKEN THIS JOURNEY HER MOTHER HAD PLANNED WITHOUT TELLING HER ANY OF THE DETAILS.
WHEN GRACE GOT STUCK ON THE MOUNTAIN IN THE STORM. ALSO WHEN THEY WHERE BIRD WATCHING AND GRACE WAS DETERMINED TO SIT STILL TO PROVE THAT SHE COULD EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO CHANCE.
NO IT WAS ALL VERY MOVING. AND IT MADE ME HOWL WITH LAUGHTER QUITE A FEW TIMES.
"loved this book"
Lovely family story daughter following her dead mum's story.
Tea planters wife another great book about a woman and family
Mountain scene other walkers, rescue, drama and fun
Lovely Sunday afternoon film
I do not like writing much as do not want to spoil story for others.
Couldn't put this book down, brilliant story, can't wait for the next one! Thank you Melanie.
"A wonderful romantic story"
I have preferred audio edition for a long time now, it is so much more relaxing and you can do your housework at the same time.
Another book I had recently was Letters to the lost, a beautiful book.
This was my first Gabrielle Glaister's book
It made me laugh and cry, and any book that can provoke that emotion is a winner in my book!
Not all books are winners but this one definitely is!
An interesting and enjoyable story! Well written and well narrated! Will read more by her.
The walk in the Cairngorms and the shock of the water
The Yorkshire accent of the Aunt. Unfortunately all the other accents sounded similar even the american. But the characters were so convincing and the story line so good it didn't really matter.
The main characters time spent hiding by the river. Another part of the book that moved me was the break up. It was obvious things were going to go one of two ways and both were going to be tear jerkers….
I laughed out loud and loved the teasing between the two main characters. The only downside was that the letters from her mother were too assured that the relationship would blossom as expected and were just a little unbelievable.
This was an interesting story with good narration and an enjoyable listen. Worth the credit.
"Heartfelt and humorous"
This is one of the best audiobooks I have had the pleasure to listen to!
The two main characters in this are (dare I say it) laugh out loud funny. They say the things you yourself would say within the senareos played out in the book!
Their personality and gumption of the characters come out brilliantly with the narrators help!
I had many a chuckle listening to this audiobook, a few 'shut up this can't happen' and 'nooooo' moments. These kept me engaged throughout the whole story!
I tell you, I thought I was going to have an emotional breakdown for a minute towards the end - thankfully... It wasn't required! If you like Katie Fford, Jo Thomas and Cathy Bramley this should join your collection too!
