Hidden Gem
I’m not sure why it took me so long to find this book. It was very good. I’m a fan of epic fantasy but these must be hard books to write because there are many so so books out there in this genre. I like Rothfuss and Sanderson. So if you like those 2 authors you might find this enjoyable. Don’t think I’ll read book 2 of this series given the reviews plus generally book 2s are not as good. Except for above named authors. It this was very much worth a credit.

Great book with some editing issues.
The book is amazing. My only issue is that there are some very long pauses in the narration for seemingly no reason. It's probably an editing issue. Other than that Pete Bradbury does a great job as always.

Pretty good overall but with its flaws.
The story is pretty good, and the pace is alright. but I do not like so much rape or attempted rape in my fantasy novels. The performance was good, but some editing could have taken out some longer pauses where I thought my phone had turned the app off.

good story, well-read
Brett's story is well-crafted, with world-building inspired by C.S. Friedman and payoffs to rival Brandon Sanderson.
And Pete Bradbury does an exemplary job of narrating the text. If only so many other narrators were nearly as good as he is here.
The story can be brutal at times, but if you're up for that, I'd recommend this.
