kept me engaged and reading

I did find it hard to set down this book. I really looked forward to the next development.

The different storylines were different in character and pace, but still interesting to follow.

I recommend to anyone that enjoys this genre.

Thoroughly enjoyed.

The narration and story were both great but the actual production was a little lacking, long pauses between paragraphs and chapters and the reading was very slow.

decent listen if you are looking for something new

I thought the story was pretty interesting but the narrator was a little dry at points. I rarely score something 5 stars because I think it is far over used. That being said, this is a better rating for me so I would definitely give it a listen if you have some credits to burn and are looking for something new. However, it is not a 'must have' to your collection. The 3 main characters are pretty well developed and you can understand/relate to their individual loss and motivations. I would like a bit more explanation on how the wards work other than 'resonance with the demons and using their own power against them' and a bit more about the demons themselves. This is hinted at in the end of the story leading you to believe that it will be expanded upon in future installments. I may have missed some of the explanations as I was on a long trip and powered through this book in a few days with out much time to think about the story in between sessions. That being said, I will listen to this again and gladly get the sequel. I hope this review is helpful!

Would say 3.5-3.75 stars overall

This book was a pleasant surprise and I'm glad that I found it. One of the best first halfs of a book I've read. Brett introduces a world that is terrifying and brutal where people are sheep and demons wolves. But this is not a simple good vs evil story. Humans can be just as brutal and terrible as the demons, not to mention petty. In this harsh and unforgiving world however, a hero is born. Brett does a great job with character development for his 3 characters and I thoroughly enjoyed their journey. I had a few issues with the story but ultimately it was a worthwile and engrossing read.

Creative twist on Sci-Fi / Fantasy story.

Where does The Warded Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the story because it give a very different twist on a fantasy story. It ranks amoung my top 5 listens because of the way it is written and narrated.

great story

great story, wonderful talent in narration. The only bone I had to pick was the pauses in between sections. Some of them were so long I had to check if the recording was still playing! Regardless, thumbs up on the whole experience

Fantasy aka G.R.R. Martin

Any additional comments?

This is what I was waiting for after finishing Game of Thrones. At least it is starting out to be a great series. I'm off to #2 now.The character development in the beginning was worth it. The time period exact. I like the take on the "Creator vs Demons" especially right after listening to 'Between Two Fires' by Christopher Buehlman which was pretty good! Unexpectedly good as a matter of fact. Even tho this book deals with demons as well and a 'creator' they are very different. If you like fantasy, and I didn't use to....this is the series! Some twists in the book were completely unanticipated which I really like. The 3 main characters at least up to this point are easy to care about and their trials are similar but different at the same time. I think Arlen rocks and I would love to meet Allessa(?) anytime..Can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed it. But warning.....no, not a spoiler..BUT....it does drag a bit in the beginning, so much so that I almost gave up. Lucky my wife has more sense than I. She made me keep listening and I am more the fortunate for it. So wait it out, you won't be sorry!
