Publisher's summary

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer, and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope - and finds love - is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?

Praise for The Undomestic Goddess

"Light and breezy... Samantha is eminently likable, and overworked readers will empathize with her glee at her first full weekend off in years." (Christian Science Monitor)

"Sophie Kinsella is at the top of the chick lit game. Her plots are fast-paced and entertaining, with the perfect amount of realistic neurosis to accompany her quirky heroines." (New York Post)

"Perfectly amusing... The Undomestic Goddess is a genuinely funny, sweet book. Kinsella is a comic whiz who consistently delivers what her readers crave." (Miami Herald)

"A lovely romantic comedy." (Washington Post)

Not as good as I hoped.

I so love Sophie Kinsella. I enjoyed the first 3 Shopaholic books and raved about Can you keep a secret to all my friends, but I just didn't enjoy this listen. I found the story tedious and the main character just alittle too "out there" and the reader's voice annoying. Sorry Soph, I still love your work and will continue to buy your books!

"A Light Hearted Listen

This the first Sophie Kinsella book I listened to and found it to be funny and easy to listen to. This book did not disappoint me although I thought the story line was a bit far fetched, but it was entertaining all the same. The book would have scored 5 stars if the loves scenes were a bit more descriptive. I hate it when lots of sexual attraction is described between a couple. Then when the couple actually get together the scene is written off "with they kissed and then afterward" descriptions. Roslyn Landor was outstanding as the reader and really made the story come to life.

Easy listen and another good Sophie K book

I really enjoyed this book - for the most part. Toward the end I thought the flip-flop decisions in front of the press were a bit unbelievable as were a few other parts of the book - but the Sophie K books are full of moments like that. All in all thought it was good entertainment and if you like Kinsella books you'll really enjoy this one too.

Very Good-Sophie Kinsella Doesn't Disappoint-Fun!

What did you love best about The Undomestic Goddess?

This is another of Kinsella's funny, lighthearted books. While it does TOUCH on the question of women in the workplace it is not preachy toward one opinion or the other. Clever, fun and a top shot read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Undomestic Goddess?

I enjoyed Samantha's interaction with her new boss, Trish. She is an over the top, nouveau rich, 'society' wife. I was gritting my teeth with Samantha as she was given silly tasks but giggling at the same time!

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

Great job-gave each character their own distinctive voice. Did admiral impressions of the male characters as well as the females.

If you could take any character from The Undomestic Goddess out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Nathaniel because he sounds like a hunk!

Any additional comments?

A lot of fun...my last Kinsella was from the Shopaholic series; of which I don't particularly care for. This is my favorite after I've Got Your Number and Can You Keep A Secret? However I still need to listen to Remember Me - which looks really good!

Classic Kinsella

I absolutely LOVE Sophie Kinsella! Her novels have an ability to transport you from all your problems and worries to wherever she is writing. Whenever I am reading one of her novels, it's like a daydream that I don't want to end; "The Undomestic Goddess" was no exception!

The main character, Samantha Sweeting, makes a mistake that ultimately costs her her job as a lawyer. As she runs from reality, she ends up working as a housemaid. The only problem is that she does not know how to cook, clean, iron, vacuum or anything that housemaids are required to do! As you can imagine, it can only make for a hilarious tale as she embarks on her new journey that leads to love, self-discovery, and peace.

Rosalyn Landor did a phenomenal job narrating this novel - she brought life to each of the characters (something that I was scared she wouldn't be able to give justice to because Kinsella's characters are always so robust).

Without a doubt, Kinsella has done it again - this was a well-made purchase!
