Publisher's summary

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer, and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope - and finds love - is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?

Praise for The Undomestic Goddess

"Light and breezy... Samantha is eminently likable, and overworked readers will empathize with her glee at her first full weekend off in years." (Christian Science Monitor)

"Sophie Kinsella is at the top of the chick lit game. Her plots are fast-paced and entertaining, with the perfect amount of realistic neurosis to accompany her quirky heroines." (New York Post)

"Perfectly amusing... The Undomestic Goddess is a genuinely funny, sweet book. Kinsella is a comic whiz who consistently delivers what her readers crave." (Miami Herald)

"A lovely romantic comedy." (Washington Post)

Undomestic Goddess

Entertaining throughout the first half. After that, the main character's indecisiveness becomes repetitive and annoying. Very good narration.

Pretty good!

I am a huge "Can You Keep a Secret" fan and can say this one wasn't as good but definitely better than the Shopaholic series... I thought Shopaholic's Becky was really dumb and annoying, Undomestic's Samantha is very intelligent and I can identify more with her when she talks about her stressful career; also, this book is not as redundant as Shopaholic...
the speaker is very easy and pleasant to listen to, not too fast nor too slow... I'd definitely advise you to get it if you are into Kinsella and that sort of cutsy girly genre...

Delightful

This book is a good escape from the easiness of the world. Through Samantha, we are reminded of the simple pleasures of life. We are reminded that the stuff of lime is not seen by looking down or living in fluorescent lights. Honestly, it makes me long for the life I wish I had, in far away places! Perhaps I will run away, too!

Fun but ultimately not satisfying; too silly.

Wonderful narrator. Started out great. No spoilers but it starts off interesting, then becomes funny and absurd. So, three hours in, I am loving it. But the end is not satisfying...author can't wrap it up or come to more serious conclusions. Fyi, I am a litigator. The legal plot does not make much sense...

Treat your ears, Rosalyn Landor is AMAZING!

THE BOTTOM LINE
Story: 3.5 stars, cute, original and humorous modern romance
Performance: 5 stars, AMAZING, a real treat.
Relationship/ heat: nice, slow simmer
Overall: 4 stars, very enjoyable, easy summer read. Worth the credit!

THE BIG PICTURE
Others wrote about the book, which is delightful and entertaining, but I had to write about the amazing narration by Rosalyn Landor. Any book narrated by her is a treat for your ears!
I have always been a fan, but I listened to historical novels narrated by Ms. Landor, and thought that she was perfect for that genre. I was pleasently surprised to hear this contemporary narration so different and so on point! It was wonderful!
RL is able to change her voice, her pace, her accent and her intonation to fit the period of each book and each character beautifully.
Ms. Landor has a beautiful rich voice, adapting different voices to each character, and she is especially gifted with male voices. It is remarkable how she is able to distinguish between characters in such a masterful manner.
RL achieves what very few narrators are able to do, she actually acts, performing the book WITHOUT OVER ACTING.
A real treat, enjoy!

Better than I expected!

I really did love this book. I typically only listen to audiobooks at work, but I got so involved in reading/listening to it, I couldn’t stop. I listened to it on the way home, while i sat in my car, listened to it when I was cleaning my house and doing dishes. And I’m bummed I’ve reached the end of it. I’ve read a couple of Sophie’s books and enjoyed those as well, but None of her other books storylines really perked my interest. So I’m hoping when I look through them again I find that one does. I’m so glad I bought this one though!

It just stops

The over all story was pretty good but the book seems to end abruptly. I was very disappointed in the final chapter.

Hated the ending

The narration was wonderful, and I enjoyed most of the storyline, but Samantha is entirely too weak and wishy-washy to be believed as a high-power attorney. I was hoping for a more realistic ending with a compromise in her career choice. The first time she ran away, I thought it was ridiculous, but the second was idiotic.
