Aussie Vietnam veteran Ron Milne is on a good thing, growing Indian hemp on the tiny Micronesian island of Lan Laroi. Besides being President, the natives treat him as a god. To the American DEA he is a dangerous criminal. US President Clifford J. Clooney decides to invade.
Onto this island of sun, surf, beautiful women, and mysterious ruins arrives Bondi surf journalist Brian Bradshaw. Brian came to find a story, then return home to write it. He didn't expect to get involved in something almost impossible to comprehend, fall in love, and get taken literally for the ride of his life.

If the story was written from a different perspective rather than an immature surfer "dude".
No. I was looking for something different or unusual. Although, I suppose this did fit the bill. Just not in a good way.
I kept listening with the hopes that something good would evolve from the story. However, it felt like I was trapped in a teen boy's fantasy. The story revolves around free marijuana, unending perfect waves for surfing, pet sharks, hot and easy native women, and annihilating the US military. Oh, and I nearly forgot the ancient aliens that left the spaceships behind. The vocabulary was dreadful ("wanker" and "Nub" for female and male genital respectively really "dude") and the "lame" story went from silly to absurd.
If I had not paid for this audiobook I would NOT have finished it. Although, if I was a stoned teenage boy I might have loved it.
