Publisher's summary

From the author who's inspired millions worldwide with books like Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven comes his most imaginative novel yet, The Time Keeper--a compelling fable about the first man on earth to count the hours.

The man who became Father Time.

In Mitch Albom's newest work of fiction, the inventor of the world's first clock is punished for trying to measure God's greatest gift. He is banished to a cave for centuries and forced to listen to the voices of all who come after him seeking more days, more years. Eventually, with his soul nearly broken, Father Time is granted his freedom, along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time.

He returns to our world--now dominated by the hour-counting he so innocently began--and commences a journey with two unlikely partners: one a teenage girl who is about to give up on life, the other a wealthy old businessman who wants to live forever. To save himself, he must save them both. And stop the world to do so.

Told in Albom's signature spare, evocative prose, this remarkably original tale will inspire readers everywhere to reconsider their own notions of time, how they spend it and how precious it truly is.

Over Dependent on Time

Any additional comments?

I'm am so guilty of being over-dependent on time. I even sleep with my watch on! This book made me more aware of how futile it is and how I need to just enjoy each minute given to me. What would the world be like without the concept of time? Very interesting, thought-provoking and yet enjoyable book.

EXCELLENT

Another great story from Mitch Album. Live in the moment at hand and give thanks for this moment. Mitch you make this hard to do, I sit here pondering this and all I can think about is, how long until I can read yet another of your incredible stories. Thank you for being an author.

Not my favorite Albom book

I have read all of Mitch Albom's books, and this one by far is my least favorite. The story's core lesson is such a stretch, that I found myself zoning out and having to pull myself back in to listen. The narrator was fantastic and pleasant to listen too, but the hocus pocus feel of the actual story line ruined it for me.

Listened to on our last spring break ride

If you could sum up The Time Keeper in three words, what would they be?

Value every moment

What did you like best about this story?

Great story for adults in the car and when you can get high school kids to stop playing video games and really listen with great interest as well that's even better. The fact the high school kids were upset when we got to the hotel for the night and the story was not over and they wanted to stay in the car even longer was even more impressive Mitch! I would call this one of those family TIMES I will always remember, We thank you Mitch for giving us that family memory and a great way to start a vacation.

What does Dan Stevens bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Feeling the experience of the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me realize and value the moment I was in a whole lot more.

Any additional comments?

Mitch covers life's simple core values that often go by us without notice. In an age that values how fast we can move forward, it was a great reminder that life is really about the journey.

Good message

Although this is not a true story there is lot of truth in it and it sends a message. I hope everyone that reads it gets the message.

Worth every moment

Highly recommended.
This story is worth every moment it takes to listen (pun intended).
Such an interesting way to weave real-life lessons with fiction with contemplation about consciousness and spirituality. Another deeply meaningful work by Mitch Albom, beautifully performed by Dan Stevens.

I struggled with this. Not my cup of tea

I love Mitch Albom but I forced myself to get as far as I could until I could not bear it any longer.
