Professional “cleaner” Jonathan Quinn has a new client and an odd job: find and remove the remains of a body hidden 20 years ago inside the walls of a London building, before the building is demolished.
But Quinn and his team are being watched. Suddenly caught in the cross fire between two dangerous rivals, Quinn must unravel the identity of the body and why it still poses so great a threat even in death. Because a plot stretching from the former Soviet Union to Hong Kong, from Paris to London, from Los Angeles to Maine, is rapidly falling apart. And Quinn hasn’t been hired just to tie up loose ends - he is one.

What am amazing ride! Brett Battles has done it again. The latest Quinn book "The Silenced" is a non stop action thriller from the start that doesn't end until the end. Battles is a true master. II have read each of the four Quinn books and this one is the best thus far. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in the espionage game or who just wants to reach an extremely well written thriller.
Tell us about yourself!
Another great installment. This one does not involve a fresh murder, but an old, hidden, dried up body and someone that wants it cleaned up and some that don't.
As always, Quinn has to get involved with the details. Unravelling the mystery while staying alive takes us on another entertaining adventure.
Welcome back narrator Scott Brick. It's always a pleasure to hear you voicing a book.
Picking up where book 1 left off, this second book keeps up the characters and story lines with spectacular consistency. I thoroughly enjoy this series
I listen to and have recently started to write reviews. I've found the reviews have helped me to select books.
Yes. I enjoy rereading Brett Battles novels. They are full of action and suspense. His writing is a plus, too. Listening to Scott Brick only made the novel better.
Nate. He had to take charge of this operation. He proved that he could be a professional Cleaner. His days as an apprentice are over. Quinn is a great teacher.
Finding Quinn so that he could be involved in the operation.
Come and watch the great Quinn perform his operations, they will thrill you till the end, leaving you wanting more.
Be sure to read the series. You will not be disappointed.
The author really seems to hit his stride with this installment. I have really enjoyed the character development as this series has unfolded. The chemistry and banter among the characters is so entertaining. I would recommend this series although you may have to struggle through book 2 due to the deviation in narrators. Brick does a great job (as usual) with the narration.
Yes, I will listen to it again. I recently discovered Brett Battles does write my kind of books and, of course, Scott Brick makes the listening even better.
I like the character in the book and will listen to other books in the series.
Scott Brick just does a good job on any book. When choosing a new author and I see Scott has the narrated the book, I will give it a try.
I have read all of the Quinn books -- this was does not disappoint!
We learn more about his childhood and family. Dont know how that will work in the next books
keeping his former life hidden protects his family
but all in all a good one
I like the series, but I cannot take Scott Brick. he's the Steven Segal of audiobooks. Oy.
Battles gives us a lot more back story in this novel. We actually come to know Quinn's real name. The action is swift and unrelenting as usual, but somehow despite the inclusion of Quinn's family, it didn't seem as serious this time out. Ancient history comes to light, a cover-up ensues, Quinn & Co get caught up in it, but because the sphere of influence it isn't world shattering. Boy does Nate take a beating in these novels. Once again he's FUBARed and Quinn is wracked with guilt. Only this time we've got Liz still hanging around and I really, really hope she's not going to be a featured character going forward. I really just wanted her to shut up or die already. A whiny, petulant, childish shrew is about all there is to her. Why exactly Nate has to fall for her is beyond me. Propinquity I suppose. Hopefully she doesn't persist in her Forence Nightengale persona and flies the coop. Something tells me she won't though. Ugh. It will be interesting if Petra and her crew show up again. With Quinn's new source of employment now a non-entity, he's going to need contacts.
Just wish we didn't have to wait so long for these! Kept me up at night listening...stayed up and had to reset sleep timer a few times!
I found this novel very unsatisfying, and stale. Big holes in the plot and with characters that you could not really identify with. In the end I was just doggedly trying to listen to the 'big finale' so that it was not left hanging as I had paid for it. I don't recommend it all all except if you just want a quick "who-dun-it" without depth.
