The classic story from the Different Seasons collection.
In The Shawshank Redemption, a man convicted of a bloody murder lives in a prison brutally ruled by a sadistic warden and secretly run by a con who knows all the ropes and pulls all the strings. He has more brains than anyone else in the sinister slammer and has a diabolically cunning plan of revenge that one can guess - until it's far too late.

"When two giants team-up, power follows. King needs no introduction, and Library Journal calls Muller the first superstar of audio. In this program Muller tells King's earthy story of perseverance in Shawshank Prison in raw, gutteral tones. Harsh though the story is, the delivery carries the intimacy of a friend talking to the listener from the passenger seat....Muller's flawless reading enriches King's powerful story, providing a superlative audio program." This book was much better than the movie. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. A book that I could not put down. Would recommend this book to anyone.
This is on my top three list of best, most valuable and most exciting books list.Great story, great characters and extremely believable!
If there is a book that is comparable, I have yet to read it.
Shawshank Redemption does remind me of the hit series 'Prison Break'. Same setting, but a lot more realistic I would say...
Frank Muller is an amazing artist with his voice! Reading this in my own mind would be boring compared to his narration. I believed that Frank Muller was the Author and that the Author was the lead character - It is that good.
The whole book .Have seen the movie thats why I bought the Audio .
When they went over his escape to freedom
Leave it alone .
I will listern to it again .
"A Masterpiece ."
I do not feelqualified to review a book by the master craftsman that is Stephen King. It is suffice to say that in my opinion this is one of the finest short stories that I have had the privelidge of reading.
A tale of prison life in the American penal system during the 1950s and 60s. Grippingbrutal, but ultimately uplifting, I read this book in one evening, I was almost unable to take off my headphones.
Brilliant narration, the narrator reminded me of Morgan Freeman, who of course starred in the movie, based on this book.
I honestly cannot recommend this marvelous audiobook enough.
"A little gem"
This is a very short book by Stephen King's standards, but I think it's one of his best. A superbly told and uplifting story of the triumph of hope over adversity, full of sharp humour, a lot of sadness and regret, and with marvellously drawn characters. King's books adapt wonderfully well to audio, and Frank Muller might have been born to read them - his narration is nothing less than a tour de force. I confess that I listened to it at one sitting!
Five stars without a doubt and strongly recommended.
"Escapism at its best."
The narration of this story is superb. The plot ambles along and the picture drawn of prison life in the 50's convinces me. This is Stephen King at his masterful best- telling extraordinary tales about ordinary people in a way that convinces and draws you in. Perfect for a long trip.
shame it isn't Morgan Freeman voicing the book but its good, I highly recommend this even if you watched the movie its goes in more detail.
"Great little novella"
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this little story. I'd seen the film before but this was a great version.
For fans of the movie, this book does not disappoint. Read by my teenage son and he liked it as much as the movie. Recommended.
great story, kept me wanting to hear more. Characters really easy to get along with. love the ending.
Such a great story and Frank Mullers laid back style is perfect for telling it.
I could listen to the ending again and again. I live near the sea and I walked down to the beach and sat and listened to this in the sunshine, so uplifting at the end.
Love Stephen King, love Frank Muller - match made in heaven if you ask me! Really enjoyed this and thought it was well worth the listen. A cracking story well read.
listening to the audiobook makes me wish I got around to it a lot earlier
