Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack one wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

I enjoyed the narrator. I enjoyed the story. It made me cry one minute and smile the next.
I wouldn't say it kept me in the edge of my seat, but it was a joy to listen to.
Roger Mueleer is good at bringing the characters to life.
Overcoming sorrow through faith
The unusual portrayal of God being both Father and Mother
There were so many but when the Holy Spirit and Mac were in the garden and how the garden with all the beauty amongst the weeds was actually Mac's life! Also when Mac was in the cave judging God.
I did not care for his voice or his lack of emphasis in his voice. Wish it was narrated by Max Mc'Clean
Jesus! Papa! Sarayu! All are one so them as one
The way that I was written draws you in from the very beginning. The fact that it was originally was written for his children only, to me it's a great honor to be able to read something that he only wrote for them to begin with.
For me I truly felt like I was there in the shack with papa the whole time and it was amazing.
No I have not listen to any other of his performances.
Papa, because I just want to be in the presence of God even more than I already am.
Yes because you get more than just the book you get an hour listening to different people talking to the other
Cross roads because it was written by the same author
I like all of them none of them are not my favorite
The thing that made me cry was when missy died and when they discovered Missy's body
This is an awesome book. I learned a lot.
Ja, in afrikaans
How God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were characterized was ridiculous. THE BOOK WAS SOOOO SLOW!!!!!!!!!!
He was ok, the content the was reading was terrible.
This was like a dream that was created into a book. But not a good dream that you share with the world, maybe only a few close friends.
I will listen to it again and again. It is labeled as "fiction" but I believe that the author or someone the author knows actually had an experience as spiritual and magical as told in this book. The deep messages can only be told by someone who lived it. Beautiful just beautiful!
God is for real because it is told from the perspective of a witness. I believe this story comes from a witness as well.
So many at the shack were my favorite. That is when the story blossoms.
So many times I got chills, overwhelming joy and tears of both happiness and enlightenment.
Definitely worth the read!
"My test of a good book is dreading to begin the last chapter." - Thomas Helm
I read this book upon a recommendation from a friend. She peaked my interest w/this line, "I don't want to ruin anything thing about this book but seriously, God shows up as this warm, kind black woman like from Touched by an Angel." I was all in.
This book is to be read as a parable, not as a true story. It is a book that will completely remove your mind from it's faith box. It's not pro one faith or the other as far as Christianity goes. Baptist, Chatholic, Lutheron etc. It sincerely opened my mind, my heart and gave me an understanding of the Trinity I desperetly needed.
You read it and make your own decision. The author did a fantastic job bringing the characters alive and the narrator only made it easier to connect.
I read the book and enjoyed it, but the audio was such a surprise. The story really came to life. All the joy, fear, agony and relief comes through this dynamic storyline. The performance was nothing short of outstanding. If you thought the book interesting or something different or if you liked it a lot, you will devour this audio version.
Mac - The narrator and writer pulled me into his character.
Don't be surprised if you are a changed person after watching
Avid reader who enjoys writing. I hope to one day have one of my novels on audible. My memoir will be out this fall '14, PERFECTLY BROKEN.
Unique, deep, healing
The plot was very good. I didn't want to stop until I knew every detail.
hard to say, but I loved the narrator's voice for God!
The truth is, as a Christian who LOVES the word of God, I did have a few hangups with this book, but as an overall I forced myself to see past my hangups and just let the message sink in. I love what the author express through this book. I do not recommend this book to the straight and narrow Christian, but if you can think outside of the box then this one is for you. Oh and the narration was AMAZING!
If you know someone who struggles to come to grips with a God who allows suffering, then this might be a good book to suggest.
