From the author of the Kindle number one best seller The Letter comes a heartbreaking novel of tragedy, hope and second chances, set in England in 1976 and the present day and in Australia. Fans who treasure the novels of Lesley Pearse and Susan Lewis will adore this author.
It's the long, hot summer of 1976, and the regulars of The Taverners pub in Manchester are preparing for a day trip to Blackpool. But after a horrific coach crash, not all of the day-trippers make it home.
Forty years later, and the consequences of that fateful day are still being felt by the families. But what if not all was as it seemed on that stretch of motorway, and someone has been hiding a devastating secret?

"Very good book. Recommended."
After reader her previous book The Letter i searched out more from this author and narrator, i was not disappointed.
Both the storyline and the characters soon came alive. Loved the ending too.

"Katherine Hughes Does It Again!!"
Another good story by Katherine Hughes and beautifully narrated by Rachel Atkins. I think this partnership works really well.
I loved the story which involves a group of local people, that know each other from their visits to the local pub, a day trip to Blackpool and its subsequent repercussions. This story is one of anguish, loss and family struggles. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this read to anyone else.
"Enjoyable & entertaining read."
I enjoyed The Secret very much. The story is entertaining and plausible in a light-hearted story telling way. A good read. Well written and well narrated.
This was a very enjoyable listen.life it is and where it takes you, unexpected as it may be.
This would make an excellent Television play.or even a movie.
I thoroughly enjoy it .Thank you.
"Don't judge a book by its cover!"
I absolutely loved it. After months of ignoring Audible's 'suggestion' of this book based entirely on the dreadful and tacky cover I finally relented and loved this book.
The narration is good, the plot is interesting and kept me listening (although a slightly predictible end... I would have been sad if it hadn't worked out like that so really, they couldn't win!)
I would highly recommend this book, a lovely way to pass a few hours and I would love to hear more.
One of my favourite purchases.I couldn't stop listening .
Really enjoyed the story and liked the characters. The narrator brought the characters to life.
Didn't want it to end.
This is the first audiobook I have listened too by Kathryn Hughes and I have now purchased The Letter . I hope it's just as good as The Secret
"plenty of twists and turns"
loved this book, kept me interested all the way through, not many books surprise me, but this had a few surprises in it. could relate to the characters and in places i had a tear in my eye.
"What a lovely book."
A really beautifully written book ,full of depth, lots of wonderful characters , could,nt stop reading. Narrator was excellent , a good use of accents.
I am really looking forward to another of the authors stories.
"Better then her first book!!"
loved it! I found at first I was a bit confused, as you go to the past I couldn't work out the link between the characters... but once I got into it I ended up hooked. The story was much better then the authors first book, and I loved the dynamics of the characters and how well developed they are so you really care about them.
