Publisher's summary

An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.

Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie - and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.

The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges.

The Rosie Project does not disappoint

it was such great fun to hear the narration of The Rosie Project and think of the characters I have known who are much like the main character in this story.

Laugh out loud!

This book had me laughing out loud from the beginning to the end. This was a feel good, funny, romantic, well written and narrated audiobook. Sometimes you need a book to escape into that will pick you up and give your mind a break. This was the book!

Excellent intellectual humor!

Loved it! Delightful characters, hilarious situations, engrossing.
Excellent portrayal of a genius out of place in society. ..yet, so universally poignant. Dan O'Grady did a wonderful job in this storytelling. Looking forward to the next in the series.

A perfect little comedy

I usually try to stay away from stories billed as "heart-warming," and worse, "feel-good," but there is no resisting this one. The author does a great job showing the world through the protagonist's eyes (who has Asperger's, we are all but straight out told), while at the same time, giving the reader a pretty good idea of how things surely must look to everybody else. I laughed out loud in parts, and got choked up in others. It's a funny, light book, but I never found it silly; I would have stopped reading it if I had. Also, it doesn't treat Asperger's as a completely negative condition, and we are invited to look at the other side of that coin, as entertaining a lesson as I've ever had. Good narrator, with an ear for the subtleties that are moving the story.

Totally sucked me in

Great narration. Story of an adult with Aspergers on the search for a wife. Could have done without the promiscuous friend storyline, but that was used to tie up some other parts of the story. Enjoyed being a part of the adventures of the main characters.

Funny and insightful

I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I felt it was written very well and was extremely humorous. The narrator had a difficult time imitating an American accent, but this did not ruin the overall performance.

Highly recommended

THe narrator was spectacular.
The story was part romance, part mystery, part psychology- very well handled with finely woven strands of humor, insight and momentum. Excellent writing on the whole. THe only flaw was gratuitous vulgarity which irritated me and cheapened the whole thing. The ending was anticipated, but fun and refreshing. Great protagonist.

Simply loved it !

The whole time I thought, I hope they make this a movie as you really can picture each scene, however I couldn't picture who would play them. This is the kind of book that just makes you feel good. It's attractive for those who have a dry sense of humor. The summary makes you think it would be predictable, and parts were, but it doesn't matter because it's so enjoyable. You root for Don the whole time. The reader also did a great job at conveying who don Tillman is - perfect Australian voice for the audio book with great emphasis on certain words throughout. I will definitely listen to the next one.
