Publisher's summary

An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.

Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie - and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.

The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Very entertaining!

This book made me laugh out loudly at times. It held my interest and I will probably read it again. I’m a fan of dead pan humor like the one in this one so if you’re into that , listen to this one!

I struggled in the beginning, but then it became intriguing and captured my attention. Glad I stuck with it.

Delightful!

It gets you inside the head of a man on the autism spectrum. He takes things so literally and his perspective is so humorous as he navigates love.

Cute Story

The story is predictable, but entertaining. The performance is spot on, perfect. A great listen.

Pleasantly surprised

An Australian Big Bang theory had me interested, but not expecting too much. ... I loved this book! The characters were perfectly flawed and I wanted my own personal Don by mid-point in the novel. Strongly recommend for an uplifting, off-beat love story.

A Knock-Out Book

Any additional comments?

A splendid feel-good book! Also, the perfect intermission for between serious books, or when you want a good laugh.

This book is nothing new, it's not unpredictable, or life-affirming, but it is a diamond buried in the muck. Unlike with Graceling, I knew I was getting a romantic book this time. I wouldn't call it a romance novel though, instead, just a love story. There isn't much to say about it, other than Don and the titular character, Rosie, are hilarious. To give an example of how hilarious, while walking randomly, I thought of a part in the book and couldn't stop laughing for a good ten minutes. It's just that funny.

That's about all the review necessary for this book. It has a light mystery, great dialogue, unexpected responses to human interaction, and a light ending that makes you feel happy. I recommend it for anyone who wants to read, but wants a break from those big and serious best sellers.

Oh! And it's a standalone book! YAY! More please!
