Publisher's summary

An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.

Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie - and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.

The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Grew on me

The narrator/main character grew on me (as is probably true for everyone he meets). Very enjoyable. Especially if you know and love someone with Asperger's or ASD.

A must!

This was my first book on audible and it definitely made me want to keep listening! The story is cute and fun and is easy to love for people of all ages. I fell in love with Don and I feel for him in the sense that I feel like I understand what the author was trying to show us in this book. The narration was amazing and it was easy to relate the speaker to the character. I felt like Dan O'Grady was able to capture the true essence of each of the characters. Strongly recommend!

Entertaining

Quirky and entertaining this book has you falling in love and no time at all with its characters. A fun listen to you as you are driving and doing chores. I'm glad I bought it.

"There's never a pot too crooked for a lid to fit"

What a fun read ! It epitomizes one of my Mother's favorite quotes. I hate insipid romances but this one is just sweet, with quirky characters and many laugh out loud moments. I also liked the voice of the novel being a character on the asperger's scale. It was a fun exercise to see the world through his eyes. Dan O'Grady's narration is flawless which is key to any audio listen as it always makes or breaks the tale. This was spot on. Will be listening to this one again (spoiler) just for the drinks orders at the Drs' reunion, the dance at the faculty ball, and the "dead fish" incident.

Loved this book!

It gave me a pleasant and comforting sense of familiarity, similar to meeting someone when far from home who grew up and the same general area and era, even without identifying the specific nuances of their speech or behavior, it feels happy. Also the book is quite humorous. As the book progresses, Don becomes more self aware (for example that he does have feelings and that they may have value) and his understanding of social interaction is improving. He's enjoying experiences and people he never considered before because they didn't further his orchestrated plan. His innocence as he struggles through uncomfortable situations is so endearing💙

Great Book

I was hesitant to purchase this book for some reason and then, 2 chapters into it, I almost gave up because it was slow going. I'm so glad I kept listening! It is a great book - funny, interesting, and charming. I like the characters, the narrator was great, and the story keeps you entertained. Just give it a few chapters to get going...totally worth it.
