Publisher's summary

A Roman soldier, Marcellus, wins Christ's robe as a gambling prize. He then sets forth on a quest to find the truth about the Nazarene's robe, a quest that reaches to the very roots and heart of Christianity. Set against the vividly drawn background of ancient Rome, this is a timeless story of adventure, faith, and romance, a tale of spiritual longing and ultimate redemption.

A wonderful story full of surprises

A friend of mine had just finished reading The Robe and commented how intriguingly captivating it was. So, I ordered it for later listening and bought my husband the hard copy. I walk as I listen...often walking miles before realizing an hour had gone by. The writer gives detail of the land and it people to make one feel part of the story. Excitement, surprises, love, hate, fear, loyalty and much more draws one to it. Another friend told me it was her favorite story ever (she is a physician who is an avid reader of all sorts of literature)! The Robe will not disappoint adults, young and old. The expressive vocabulary is to make one jealous to articulate so beautifully.
Thank you Audible for providing the listening capability. I will go and read the hard copy now.

The Robe

Story was fairly good. However, some historical information in this book inaccurate. The
narrator was very good.

A Delightful Read

When I first started listening to this book, I was worried that the narrator's dull voice would put me to sleep. However, I thoroughly loved the book and didn't want to quit listening. I fell in love with the characters through Langton's voice. Douglas' use of the English language is beautiful. I love how he shows the transformational power of Christ's love, both for individuals and for society.

Editing runs sentences/paragraphs together

Editing runs sentences/paragraphs together. Good narration and story. Poor editing. Still worth a listen. Ok

Really, really great book

I saw the movie many years ago but of course the book was so much better and far more detailed. Such a wonderful and inspiring story. I couldn’t stop listening.

Love it, love it, love it!

Love it, love it, love it. Reminds me of a fifth gospel, retelling the stories of Jesus in a fresh way. The fictional characters too, are compelling and well developed. They stay with you long afterwards. The narrator is superb. Highly talented.
