Then, one day, a raging, record-breaking storm hits his small Southern town. Denise Holton, a young single mother, is driving through it when her car skids off the road. With her is her four-year-old son, Kyle. Unconscious and bleeding, she - not Kyle - is found. And when she wakes, the chilling truth becomes clear to both of them: Kyle is gone.
During the search for Kyle, the connection, the lifeline, between Taylor and Denise takes root. Taylor doesn't know that this rescue will lead him to the possibility of his own rescue from a life lived without love. That it will dare him to live life to the fullest by daring to love.

Sparks does it again with a story you can't put down until you find out what happens. As you read the book you start to care a lot about the people in the story and what happens to them. There is excitement, mystery, and romance (without the trash).
The narrator is good, the story is fine. It is simplistic, but once in a while it is good to just listen light.
This was my third Sparks book that I have read, and I'd say it was the best of the three so far. It had the right amount of love and excitment, although a bit predictable. A nice easy "read", definitely recommended for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The characters are easy to like (mostly).
A good listen. Made my long comutte much more enjoyable. Actually sat in the car (in the driveway) just so that I could finish the last chapter - LOL!
Typical Sparks story - simple plot line, but sweet. However, the narrator has to go. Worst Sparks narration I've ever heard.
P.S. Kayser "Aware"
Compassionate, Romantic, Oustanding
Johnny Heller offered great pacing, outstanding pauses, and he changed his voice to match the various characters. He brought the book to life
The Rescue maintained the integrity of its theme "rescue" throughout the tale. The young 4 year old is depicted with compassionate understanding both from the boy's perspective and the adults. Deep emotion and psychological trauma were handled with empathetic understanding.
I love to read and having books on audio is perfect when I'm out shopping or down with a migraine.
Very true to life of a single mom.
Open your heart to love. Don't let the past control your future.
The narration of this book. It is quite a talent when you can tell the difference between the characters in the story.
Denise because she was a strong relate-able person, true life issues.
His animation in each character.
I listen on my way to and from work, when I got to work I found it hard to turn off and do my work.
If you like John Sparks books you will really like this story line.
After reading Dear John and The Note Book by Nicholas Sparks, I was eager to read more of his great novels. In my hunt for the next one, I read the blurb for The rescue and thought it sounded interesting and dramatic. Just the sort of thing I like. However, this was not the case at all. The blurb is very misleading and instead of what I thought would be a thrilling read with romance included, It was instead about two 30 year old's acting like 15 year old teenagers. There was no definite story line and the characters were weak and had unrealistic and child like worries which I could only cringe at. My decision about this book was not improved when I heard the narrator. He voice hardly differed when changing to different characters and this made it sound mono toned and boring. Even though this book was very disappointing, I will continue to read/listen to Nicholas Sparks novels and I am sure I will fall in love with one of his many other stories.
Nicholas Sparks is a rarity in that he is a male romance writer. My wife is big on 'that's a boy book or that's a girl movie'. In her estimation Nicholas Sparks wrights "girl books". I don't care I like his books and this is one of my favorites. I could relate to the characters and while I like some of them there others that I don't like. Denise Holton is not only a young woman that it's easy to develop a crush on but a young woman worthy of a great deal of respect. As several of the other people have said in their reviews this isn't a deep or complex story, but I don't care. I like it.
