Then, one day, a raging, record-breaking storm hits his small Southern town. Denise Holton, a young single mother, is driving through it when her car skids off the road. With her is her four-year-old son, Kyle. Unconscious and bleeding, she - not Kyle - is found. And when she wakes, the chilling truth becomes clear to both of them: Kyle is gone.
During the search for Kyle, the connection, the lifeline, between Taylor and Denise takes root. Taylor doesn't know that this rescue will lead him to the possibility of his own rescue from a life lived without love. That it will dare him to live life to the fullest by daring to love.

Sparks does it again with a story you can't put down until you find out what happens. As you read the book you start to care a lot about the people in the story and what happens to them. There is excitement, mystery, and romance (without the trash).
This was my third Sparks book that I have read, and I'd say it was the best of the three so far. It had the right amount of love and excitment, although a bit predictable. A nice easy "read", definitely recommended for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The characters are easy to like (mostly).
Not the best Nicholas Sparks book I've read. This was a good book but i found much of it to be a bit to gushy which usually is difficult thing for me to say.
I read this book years ago and it stuck w/me. I decided to download it and see if it is still my favorite. Sure enough, it's better than I remembered. I think this one stands out from the rest of his books!
This story is about love... familial love and romantic love brought together by a raging storm, and a lost 4 year-old boy.
Taylor McAden is a volunteer fireman who is more than willing to risk his life in order to save lives. Taylor feels compelled to take terrifying risks. The reason he is motivated to risk his life is one of the mysteries of this story. Romantic love is another mystery surrounding Taylor McAden. While he is willing to take the leap of faith to save a life, he is unwilling to take the leap of faith by daring to risk romantic love.
This is a good storyline and it was very easy to become concerned and care about the characters. I thought the author could have done a better job of setting up the story to show why it was so difficult for Taylor to pursue romantic love, but overall it's a heart-felt story and was 'all good' in the end.
Johnny Heller, the narrator, did a wonderful job. He did the best he could with the 4 year-old's voice (a difficulty for any mature male). I enjoyed this novel, narration and all.
Un argumento lleno de sensibilidad, toca muchos sentimientos y emociones del ser humano en la búsqueda de la felicidad. Excelente narrador, un gran trabajo, felicidades. Me encantó
