I liked the book cover so I bought this book for a young lady. I started to browse to make sure it was appropriate for her and the book caught me and I found myself reading it from cover to cover. Excellent!
The stories were fun and in the process my daughter and I learned much from the historic facts included in the audio.
Is the first time I read / hear this type of literature.
His voice is powerful, magical, it demands your attention.
Great for quality time with your young one. Great dialogue starter.
I didn't care for the narrator.'s voice The music between segments seemed really loud in comparison to the narration
Yes The history of the different stories was very interestingI enjoyed the tales. But I love the Uncle Remus any way.My father used a lot of the techinques of the American Black folklore in his story telling when I was a child. So this made me think about my father a lot.
You really didn't need to differentate the characters as there we usually only two peopleinvolved within the narative
NoIt did make me think of the movie Song of the SouthI wish that Disney would release it again. It's part of our history and the tales just make you smile.
I did like the book and will more than likely listen to it again. I rarely listen or read a book more than once
Avid reader. Native Baltimorean. Older male. College-educated.
The narration was enjoyable. The stories seemed better suited to children. All in all I am ambivalent about wheter the time I listened to the stories was well spent. For stories supposedly from African-Americans I didn't get the impression they were that authenic.
Not really. The stories were not compelling, in my view.
Excellent portrayal of dialects. Clear wording. He added a lot to the story experience.
One or two stories were very entertaining. I especially liked the story about two Johns. And the tale was less than 4 hours.
