Publisher's summary

When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of 14, she catches the eye of Henry VIII. Dazzled by the king, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realizes just how much she is a pawn in her family's ambitious plots as the king's interest begins to wane and she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. Then Mary knows that she must defy her family and her king, and take her fate into her own hands.

A rich and compelling tale of love, sex, ambition, and intrigue, The Other Boleyn Girl introduces a woman of extraordinary determination and desire who lived at the heart of the most exciting and glamorous court in Europe and survived by following her own heart.

It was ok

It's a good book and good it is good. I just want more development. Ruthie Henshall did her best which was excellent. I've read several Ms Gregory's when I was a teen and college and loved them. I guess I feel I've out grown her. This one I picked up because I couldn't find another book about Ann's sister.

Did I waste my credit? No, I got what I needed. Would I recommend it to others? Yes, it fills end some blanks in the history of the Boleyn family.

Better than the movie

I've read a couple of Philippa Gregory books and have liked them but for some reason, I get really bogged down in them, especially the politics of the period. Audible had the perfect answer! Although I never download abridged versions, this worked perfectly for me. I got the story with just enough politics. If you liked the movie, I think the book is even better.

Love anything Tudor!

A great listen by an amazing author. A fair bit of embellishment here or there, but the characters really come alive.

I have really enjoyed this book

I have really enjoyed this audiobook. I like the lady who does the reading I think she is a very good voice actress. After reading thid book I look forward to seeing the movie and to reading more works not only by the author but by the reader.

Interesting perspectives on these historical women

This is an abridged version, I am curious to hear the difference with the the unabridged version.

Riveting!

Historical mixed with fictional twist. Story line kept me engaged the entire time. Nothing drawn-out.

Not worth it!!!!!

I read the book years ago so I wanted to listen to it again. This is not the full story it is abridged and there is no time to develop the characters.

Mad I wasted a credit!!!

The other Boleyn Girl

Excellent story, fast moving, entertaining and engrossing. If you've seen the movie, this audible version is better.

ABRIDGED!!!

How did I not notice that this was an ABRIDGED version?!? I despise abridgements! This book was really good though and the result is that now I want the unabridged version. If I can't find it on audiobook I will buy it to read. A combination of this book and the Showtime drama "The Tudors" has gotten me terribly interested in the life of Henry VIII. I have never liked trashy romance novels partly because they just make me feel stupid but here is one I can feel good about since it is somewhat educational! Too bad it is the ABRIDGED version!
