There were several parts of this book that I enjoyed, but the main character was so ditzy and clueless at some points that I felt like giving up on the book because it frustrated me so much. The long-winded descriptions also made it hard to listen to. I felt like fast-forwarding at certain points. It could have been half the length and been much more entertaining. Similar to the Shopaholic series in some ways, although this one was written first. Not the best "chicklit" I've listened to, but not too bad if you're willing to stick it out until the end.
I really liked this book! It was entertaining & made me laugh. The main character was really very likable, even though she did have her "ditzy and clueless" moments, but its a story, and not to be taken so seriously. I found the characters believable and it was all quite charming. Plus, the narrator is excellent! I would highly suggest listening to this book.
Really funny and Suzy Atchinson is such a great reader. I LOVE her. The main character makes me laugh at all the trouble she gets herself into. She's too warm hearted for her own good! Anyway, I really like it and much prefer the audiobook to the paper copies! So entertaining!
The main character, Polly, was - for my taste - a little too overdone. Nevertheless, the story continues quite well with lots of laughs, many surprises and an unbelievably sexy boss ...
Lively narration, well done!
The story line was okay, but the main character drove me crazy. How can she be so proud of being a silly, lazy, self absorbed liar. I know characters are supposed to grow throughout a story, but did she have to start so low? Her overactive imagination was amusing, probably because it's similar to my own. Then add a whole cast of liars and cheaters and the book was a disappointment. I did actually finish, but I fell asleep at one point and didn't bother to go back and relisten.
The narrator was fantastic, though!
The old Girl network is never to be judged by the title. It is packed with rib-crackingly funny incidents which will arrest your attention from the moment you pick it up. I was sometimes reading this on long journeys and could barely stop myself from laughing out loud! The plot is cleverly written and the language is very colourful. I'll allways recommend Catherine Alliott to any one. Her books are very good at making a dull day seem much more interesting. I especially love the Narrator's interpretation of the characters. She really brings them to life. If you're thinking of the next one to read, try "Not that kind of Girl"
