    Any additional comments?

This is a slow-moving and thoughtful story about a young woman's belated interest in finding out more about the mother who died not long after giving birth to her. No sudden shocks or secrets, but a slowly unfolding narrative as the heroine gradually comes to know and recognise the parent she never knew. I didn't find the heroine always entirely sympathetic, nevertheless, the book still kept my interest throughout. And it's beautifully read, which is always a bonus.
